WELSTIK Water Activated Gummed Kraft Paper Tape Packaging Dispenser 3 Inch Green for Shipping, Carton and Box Sealing

I figured this was simple enough it would work fine and be unassuming. But the design is flimsy. Also, the tape moves around side to side a lot (with 3 inch standard gum tape). Not sure why they didn't make it 3 inches wide.But most of all, the problem I keep having is that this just doesn't apply enough water, or evenly enough, to the tape. So it's not always sticking consistently. My hope with this was to get away from using a sponge and scissors. But since this doesn't seem to work well enough, that's what I'm going back to.

The only issue with this, and I assume all other brands selling this exact product are the same, is that after your role of packaging tape is placed on this, the roll tend to move to one side of the pin it is on to the other and does not just stay in the middle. This causes the tape, as you are pulling it through, to also move from one side of the other and if you don't catch it in time you could get less water on one side or the other causing the tape to not stick well. You need to really watch the tape as you pull it through. They should add some kind of attachment that you can secure on either side of the role, on the pin, to keep it centered. Other than that inconvenience, it works as described.

Does the blade work? No! Do you have to use scissors? Yes! Is it ideal for someone packing 30 plus boxes a day? No! I send 5-10 boxes a day. For such a low number, I don't mind using scissors. And yes, you have to use your other hand while you pull the tape to gently hold the tape to make sure all parts of the tape is getting wet. I don't mind doing that because I DO mind paying 4 to 5 times for high end metal base dispensers. So yes, there's a trade off but I'm happy with it. Now if I were sending 30, 40, 50 boxes a day, I'd definitely get the high end model and not the plastic one.

This water dispenser works great. It is sturdy and easy to use. Loving that it is not messy and makes sealing packages effortless.

Bought the pink one for my small business. The tape has to be pressed down on the black "sponge roller" in order to get the tape wet. Once that's done, I don't get a clean cut - it looks jagged and unprofessional. Using scissors to cut like another reviewer had said they do. Otherwise, I do think I move a bit faster as some of my boxes are 30" long and this get the job done quickly

Tried using this unit with 2 inch gummed tape. The roll sits unsupported on the cross beam and is subject to "wandering" Considered getting some nuts and washers to stabilize the roll but decided not to waste my time. If it was included I might have kept the unit. Since I'd be using it infrequently, I created a makeshift dispenser out of cardboard to keep the tape from unrolling. I pull out what I need, tear it off, soak it in some warm water and apply. Also saves me from using up work space.

The tape keeps moving to one side when pulling out. Had to trial a few times before actually getting it to work. Not the best but better then doing it by hand.
