These are quite small, more like individual butter dishes for place settings. But they look great!
They’re a bit pricey for what they are, but they’re very nice. When I ordered them I thought they were larger, to keep butter in the fridge, but these are more like butter dishes for individual place settings. Nice and very stylish, but pricey

Wanted to love it
Arrived with a scratched up dome and a ceramic base that was warped. This left a larger opening than I was comfortable with where the dome did not meet the base all the way around.

Love Mauviel but I hate this Butter Bell
My problem with this isn't the small size, although it is fairly small. Yes, it only holds, at most, 2 tablespoons of butter, but this is the traditional size for a French butter bell. (I think they load the butter in the cooking, but don't add much at the table.)My problem is that this is a lightly lacquered lid which cannot hold up. After a few uses, the lacquer finish will splotch through with about a dozen large spots. I always knew it was lacquered and was very careful to only lightly hand-wash it when necessary with warm water, mild dish soap and a soft sponge. Nevertheless, the lacquer quickly failed, making it an ugly splotched bell and the only recourse was to remove the lacquer and maintain it as a polished copper piece, like normal Mauviel pots and pans.Of course, using it in this bare state results in a less-than-prime state of polish, owing to recurring cleaning with expensive copper washes which are all very slightly abrasive.I have several other lacquered pieces of kitchen copperware and they easily handle the humidity and rough handling that comes with kitchen and table service. But this is high grade copper with a very low grade of protective lacquer.Buying this butter bell is only slightly less pointless than burning a small pile of money. Save your money.
