Perfect for my Application
I bought two of these cleats to complete my bird feeder pulley system, and they were exactly what I needed. I attached them to the main vertical pole, and I don’t have the problems with them slipping that other users did, as the tension on them is vertical, not horizontal. They were a bit pricey for this application, but in the end totally worthwhile in making my life easier.

NO directions
I ordered 2 of these Sea-Dogs and one arrived as a repaired torn-open package with loose nuts stuck to the scotch tape right on the package edge, of being lost. I proceeded fearfully, looking at Amazon's on-line picture to assemble (not even a finished picture on the package) and was successful, even without directions. This = 4, not a 5. Finished attaching and it works great for my needs.

Easy solution
Great addition to boat rails for quick tie off without needing to drill any permanent holes in the boat. Took less that 1 min to install. Very pleased with this product.

Flawed Design
This cleat, designed to serve on a rail or stanchion, does not mount firmly enough to really hold a line. No matter how tight the screws are tightened, and despite a rubber friction pad that accompanies the cleat, the cleat will rotate on the rail on the rail as soon as the line comes under strain.
