Homemade ice cream
In this day and age of runaway inflation, when a pint of ice cream costs $10, ice cream has become sort of a luxury treat. And if you ever read the ingredients label on a container of ice cream you can understand why most of them are now labeled as "frozen dairy treat" and not ice cream. They are filled with chemicals you can't even pronounce. This book will get you started on making your own ice cream, frozen custard, sorbet and more, using real ingredients you can pronounce and making the flavors you want, when you want them. If you want a flavor that's not in the book adapt your chosen flavor to fit a recipe. And if you think that making your own ice cream is as easy as putting all the ingredients in the freezer bowl and letting the ice cream maker do the rest, I'm going disappoint you. I wish it was that easy but it's not. Depending on what flavors you want and other stuff you want to add to the mixture, there is some prep involved. You'll have to cook stuff on the stove and then let it cool down for frozen custard and some fruits. You'll have to use your mixer to mix ingredients together. You may need a food processor to dice and chop some ingredients. In other words the simpler the flavor, the simpler the prep is.

Recipes look ok
I was disappointed there were no custard recipes, only Philadelphia-style ice cream (unless I'm missing something). I haven't tried any yet but overall, the recipes look ok.

Great Ice Cream, Soft Serve, and Gelato Recipes and How-tos
This book might have been titled “Everything You Wanted To Know About Making Ice Cream Of The Standard Variety Or Softserve Or Gelato, Using Cuisinart” The secret is the recipes given would probably work with any quality ice cream maker. It’s a great book of recipes, well-written and fun to read, and economically priced at ninety nine cents, which may explain why it sometimes reads like an advertisement for Cuisinart, and some of the clever recipe names were ginned up by an advertising agency (e.g., kickin’ key lime sorbet, grapelicious ice cream, mango madness coconut raspberry yogurt). The introduction covers the three components of a successful ice cream experience: base (cones, pancakes, pie, tortillas, etc.), toppings (pretzel sticks, breakfast cereal, brownies), and sauces (strawberry, lemon, maple syrup, etc.). Other chapters extol the virtues of frozen yogurt, what else to make besides ice cream, how to use your Cuisinart ice cream maker, secrets of the Cuisinart pros. The rest of the book consists of soft serve, gelato, and regular ice cream recipes organized in terms of classics (traditional), fruit-based, novelty, healthy, appealing to kids, and grownups only. (“Grownups only” includes such wonders as gin and tonic, margarita madness, and vanilla screwdriver). Lots of fun and calories and why not? Life’s for living, might as well.

Nutella Ice Cream - Worth Buying the Book!
My husband and I recently bought an ice cream maker, and I picked up a few recipe books. This one is by far my favorite. There is a recipe for Nutella ice cream that is hands-down the best ice cream I've ever tasted, especially when it's just come out of the mixer.Lots of fun and unique flavors and treats, and of course, the basics. The vanilla is very creamy, and strawberry is hard to beat, too.Refrozen, the ice cream will definitely be harder than store-bought varieties, so it's a good idea to let sit for 5 - 10 minutes.

It’s fine. A bunch of the recipes are variations.
The book is a fine collection of recipes. Many of them are variations of the same recipe with the main flavoring changed. There are a bunch of different types of recipes for ice creams, sorbets and yogurts. No color pictures inside! It is a cheaply printed collection of recipes, but not a bad place to start.

Poor Value
The format is boring. Pages 18 to 45 comprise a long winded and repetitive introduction. For example "Cuisinart Ice-21 1.5 Quart and Cusinart Pure Indulgence 2 Quart Frozen Yogurt-Sorbet and Ice Cream Maker" is repeated 31 times! Many of the recipes use identical bases of cream, milk and sugar with the addition of various makes of candy bars, many of which are unobtainable in the UK. In conclusion, save yourself £12 as there are better free recipes on line
