I've read that mylar lasts much longer than the plastic ones I have that began to warp after about 6 years of use. Trust me, regular plastic turns 'ugly' after some years go by even if kept out of sunlight.Using to store my handful of floppy comic books. They make even the Goodwill-purchased ones look better.Yes, I understand that to a collector mylar is meant for better quality books, but I'm thinking in terms of the 1980-era books still being readable in 25 years....because I like the stories and don't like digital 'cloud' buying.)I also purchased these to protect my stored paperback trades as well as the floppies. The modern size worked fine for thin trades. Used slightly bigger 'Silver/Golden' bags and this size backer to go with moderate sized trades.Only 'cons' are that they are pricey (but you get more protection for that price) and that the polyester 'mylar' bags are somewhat irritatingly noisier when moved about then the cheaper plastic ones. (I only see the latter as a true nuisance if you plan to shuffle your books around for an extended period of time.)Another possible con is that while placing the books into the bags you are tempted to start reading the books again instead of getting the chore finished because....dang, they look nice in there.Trades: Used 7-1/4" bags with 7" boards for thin books. Used 8" bags and 7-1/2" boards for moderately thick trades. Used 8" bags and 7" boards for thick trades. Also (why the heck not?) used 8" leftover bags without boards to protect some hardbound books from acidic storage containers and other undesirable contaminants.

Mylar sleeves in and of themselves are not cheap, so in using something more cost-efficient I recommend these. They're just the right size for the items I collect, and I don't have to worry about the bags getting oily over time, something that takes place in standard polypropylene storage bags. Buy with confidence.

Not true to size. If you purchase make sure you SIZE UP

8 by 10.5 not the true size not even close much smaller than that.
