Great purchase
I did research ahead of time and measured both dogs. This life jacket fit perfectly to the measurements. We got small for our short but stocky 23 lb. mutt who has a long short body shape like a corgi, but short hair. We had tried a different brand on him first but the stomach of the other one covered his boy part, we were worried about chaffing, this one did not, it was perfect. We got medium for our 50 lb. Catahoula, who is the size of a cow dog or smaller Lab. Neither dog seemed to mind wearing them. They feel and look high quality so I think they will last a long time. Important features are the hole for the leash to come through on back of neck and the handle on the back. The handle was very important as we were able to hold on to them as we crossed strong currents in the river or came to parts that were too deep for them. We could grab them to keep them safe. Look forward to getting the dogs in the water more often.

Brewski Approved!
The media could not be loaded. Glad someone suggested this life jacket for my dog! So far, it seems to be high quality, with a nice vibrant color for visibility! My active/strong swimming pup can easily manuover in it and it also aides him when he becomes tired on our long kayak trips. The handles are great for assisting Brewski back on the kayak. Size chart is accurate- Brewski is between 55-60 lbs with a 30 inch chest and the medium fits perfect! Would recommend this product to others!!!

Works well for my Pomeranian
I'm pretty happy with this life jacket. This is the third one that I have tried now. I take my little buddy with me everywhere (beach, pool, lakes, rivers, etc.), but he has never been the strongest swimmer. He's a little 10 pound Pomeranian.A few problems that I've had with life jackets are 1) quality, 2) sizing, and 3) fit.I decided to try this one out because it seemed to be better quality than his last one. He goes kayaking with me and likes to hop out of the boat to cool down in the water. I kayak on rivers with strong currents, so I wanted to be very sure that he would be safe. The handle on this seems pretty sturdy, and I will try to update this review to let everyone know how it lasts. I also really like that this life jacket has a D-ring that you can clip a leash to. It gives me a secure place to attach a leash so that he is tethered to my kayak and can't get swept away in currents.Since the sizing on this was by length and girth, I feel like this one ended up fitting better than the ones I have bought based on weight. His measurements were right on the border, so I ordered the smaller size and it seems to fit well. Usually the fit becomes an issue because it restricts his natural movement and makes it harder for him to swim with the life jacket. I had one that caused him to float on his side, and another that was way too loose. So far, I'm pretty happy with the fit on this. The only thing that I would change is that the fabric doesn't cover my dog's stomach, which means that the straps can rub him. The jacket is strong enough to pull him out of the water, but I'm wary of the fact that there are only two thin straps supporting his weight (under his belly) when I do that.

Excellent life vest
The media could not be loaded. This is exactly what I was hoping for. Surpassed my expectations in quality and seems very comfortable on my dog. It clips on easily and has perfect hook attachments to hook on a leash in front and back. The handle is also perfect to scoop my pup out of the water and into the boat when she cant do it herself.

Dog life vest
My puppy loved it and was less afraid of the water. Very comfortable fit.

Well built, adjusts le
I reviewed a lot of dog life vests. I wanted to avoid those with a lot of Velcro which would entrap my dog’s hair. This vest is well constructed. I like the two handles on the back (one vertical and one horizontal) which gives you options to grab and pull your dog out of the water. The underside of the vest consists of foam padding on each side which are secured by 2 straps and buckles. On my dog, the two foam sides don’t meet in the center under her belly, but there’s still plenty of buoyant support. The best part is no Velcro, and it’s easy to put on with the two buckles. There’s a band that goes over the head and supports the front of the neck/chest. It is adjustable too. Check out my pictures to get a better idea of how it works. A good choice for a dog life vest! Finally, I just wanted to add that the highly rated Ruffwear life vest is VERY similar but it's double the price, and it has a very small piece of velcro that is used to secure the underside straps, which could irritate your dog (not likely though). I personally think that the Kurgo is a much better value.

It's okay
As a lifejacket, it's okay. A suitable and cheaper alternative to the Ruffwear Float Coat, but it's not exactly the same. My dog found it to be a little too long and overly supportive in all the wrong areas; it's just not exactly what we needed. If you're looking to purchase this mainly because of its advertised feature of being able to be used as both a jacket and a life vest, dont bother with purchasing the new style.I'm deducting a few stars because the advertising, from the name to the listing, is very misleading when it comes to the new style of jacket they're selling. The new style does not allow you to remove the floatation layer and is far too bulky to be used as a jacket; it's just your average lifevest with a few okay features (I do like the fact that you can tuck away the adjustable straps and the handles make lift assist easier) but that's about it.It's a good lifevest if your dog fits the dimensions and needs a lot of support when swimming, but it just wasn't for us.

Perfect!
My dog who doesn’t like to wear anything happily wears this! She feels much more secure in the water, I can tell!
