Earthwise DT71613AA 13-Amp 16-Inch Corded Dethatcher with Scarifier Blade and Collection Bag

I had big brown patches and a thick thatch layer. I assumed that that point I had brown fungus or whatever it's called. I tried a fungicide, didn't work well probably because the thatch was so thick used this to remove the thatch. It took a few hours for my small lawn but it did a good job and was much better than raking. The bag is tiny so it fills up fast I had to dump it every 6 feet or so. I'd imagine you could just use a lawn mower to collect the clipping in a bigger bag to speed this up. The height adjustment on the front end is not very sturdy so if you bump it it will move tp the lowest level. I didn't notice that until I had already went about 10 feet but it all worked out because the layer was so thick I ended up keeping it on that setting.

I am quite pleased with the functionality of this product. It’s extremely light weight and easy to handle, it’s so light weight though, it almost feels like a toy. Not the best quality casters, but it performed way better than I expected. I have about 1/2 an acre that hasn’t been dethatched since 2015 and the lawn has never been bagged that I’m aware of. It was THICK…it took me for a learning curve and I had the first pass set too high. But once I got the hang of it, I got more aggressive on the height setting and this thing made easy work out of it. Nearly pulls itself along….i have ZERO regrets purchasing this one. Easy assembly, straight forward instructions. The push button is a little weird, but it’s simple enough.

Although it’s pretty lightweight, it worked really well. Lots of plastic, but at the same time durable

Simple to assemble (5 mins), bought a 12 AWG power cord to supply it and started scarifying my yard. This thing is a beast and far more powerful than expected. Well designed and works like a charm. It actually worked much better and was much easier to control than the gas powered machines I previously rented. If the seeding goes well I will post pictures.

Purchased to dethatch my Zoysia lawn. Product arrived with a damaged bearing on the dethatcher attachment - chipped and rusted. Not the end of the world, but indicative of quality control.Attachments are swapped out by unscrewing 2 bolts that hold the attachment in place. Well, one of them was stripped out and would not unscrew more that 1/4". Even worse, after attempting to screw it back in and try out the scarier (which I don't need), the screw would not go back in. Entirely stripped. Go figure, using a cheap plastic bolt for a metal screw didn't work.Tried a new brand and paid the price.Done. Garbage. Returned.

Nice features, easy to use, and good build quality. Cord is cumbersome, but they usually are.Catch bag is, like on most dethatchers, practically useless.

Pretty powerful machine for its size. I was shocked how much thatch was in my lawn. But the bag is too small, because you have to stop every 30 feet to empty the bag. If you don't use the little bag,,, you'll be raking forhours. A larger bag would give it 5 stars.

Most importantly, this thing did a great job with my yard. You will need to hit a spot from a couple directions, but that is to be expected. It is light, easy to swap attachments, and changed my perception of a job that I thought would be miserable. Pro tip: don’t use the bag it comes with… just bag everything with a lawn mower
