DobotMagician New Advanced Educational Kit-for Maker, K12 STEM Education -Educational Version

Unit did not function. Loved how it was designed including the software and shipping packages, but the unit received would not operate. The vendor's Amazon store had no contact Info, so this was a simple Amazon return for refund. Will order another one, but not from an Amazon store/reseller.

I ordered one Dobot Magician Education version for the College that I teach at. It arrived in a few days but one of the servos would not respond. I was contacted immediately by the technician who guided me through troubleshooting. We determined the main control board was damaged. I received a second Dobot and it had a similar problem. The technician immediately had new boards shipped to me and now they both work flawlessly. I am confident that the damaged boards were a one time occurrence and the source of the problem has been taken care of. I am very impressed with the quality of the Dobots, and we are still experimenting with all of the things it can do. It comes with a Laser burner that will burn writing or pictures on wood or heavy paper. It comes with a 3D printer attachment (haven't tried this yet). Very good product. I will be ordering more!

The air pump has valves so it is used as both a vacuum and pump. Not sure if it was a hardware failure or a firmware update bug but now only pumps, not vacuum. This means suction cup gripper doesn't work and claw gripper can only open.Overall I like the design and the software interface is very good. It will come up in Chinese first but it's not too difficult if you read the manual to change to English. There is a learning curve and I couldn't get a setting which didn't over expose round sections (where arm slows down) doing laser engraving. But there are so many different good aspects of this design. I'm returning it to Amazon and thinking of getting a new one but I'm concerned it might die prematurely too.
