Pla-rail Start building pla-rail! Basic rail set.

These tracks are absolutely amazing especially in comparison to the toys manufactured in china. I was getting sick of paying huge prices for the cheap junk I bought in large toy stores. The tracks are reversible so you never have to change the whole setup because you made a slight goof. The crossing gates are really cute. They are not battery operated which makes it light and simple. My dad loves watching my son play with his trains. These tracks are also compatible with all the other trains we own. This is a great value for the price. We have wood floors but we watch youtube videos of these set up and i have even seen these tracks being used on sand!

Amazing tracks and easy to play with. This tracks have been going for years so they are compatible with those Tomy tracks sold online (used) if you want to extend it. It works great with the tomy takara trains. My kids are in love with the shinkansen trains and the tracks. This set DOESN'T come with trains. These toys are not cheap, but expect great quality. These are the same tracks that can be use for "Thomas the train" Takara trains.

Let me start by saying we love trains in this house and have a ton of the brands available on the market (Thomas wooden, Brio, Trackmaster, etc.) But the Pla-rail sets from Takara Tomy are our absolute favorite and top choice for our almost 3 year old.This track is so easy for our toddlers to snap together themselves and the track actually STAYS together! The trains glide smoothly on the track. There are also a ton of configurations you can make with this small set all visually depicted on the box (wish my husband hadn't thrown the box out). *Note that a train does not come with this set and has to be purchased separately.If you have the battery powered Trackmaster trains (think Thomas) they do work with this track but they really aren't that great with it. They tend to get stuck and don't glide as nicely as the Pla-rail trains on the track. You can tell the Trackmaster trains aren't made for this track so I would suggest purchasing a Pla-rail train (you won't regret it!). Pla-rail even makes compatible Thomas trains for this track and although they may seem pricey (almost double to Trackmaster) they are worth it!Pros:-Trains ride smooth on track-Easy to snap together-stays together-Includes a crossing, tunnel and switches, and small station-Can use Trackmaster trains on this track although I don't suggest it (see body of review).Cons:- Yellow switches don't always stay in the position you put them

Easy to put together! My son loves the Takara Tomy trains and the tracks are sturdy. A little pricey but I’d rather buy something that lasts.

Love these rail sets! Added it to our collection. Wish there was more variety of Takaratomy in US at lower prices. Also, if you don’t like following instructions, the R20 quarter pack (see picture) is an easy way to reverse the connections without having to rethink the whole design (although that’s part of the fun of it). Delivery was fast. Tomy tracks are in great quality. Great addition to connect to other Tomy tracks.
