Good strong paper tape
When we had work done in our kitchen, we used this to tape down the floor protectors. I'd had this roll of tape for several years, just sitting in a drawer. When we pulled it out to tape down the floor protectors that had started to come up, this tape worked great. It tears easily and pretty straight. There was plenty of good adhesive on it. And it held the protectors in place like a champ. (We also tried clear plastic packing tape which just came up. I think the dirt/dust affected the adhesive on the packing tape.)Anyway, we finished up the roll I'd bought years back and bought a fresh roll to have on hand. Sturdy, easy-to-use tape.

This is the tape I've been searching for
If you ever may need to tape up a cardboard box at some point in your future then do yourself a favor and buy a roll of this stuff. It is wide, tough, and sticks securely to cardboard, yet it is easily applied and torn by hand. It is suitable for packing stuff for moving or storage, for shipping, and ad hoc stuff like tacking cardboard pieces together to make a spaceship for a 5 year old.I have tried a ton of different combinations of tapes and techniques to adhere cardboard flaps and this tape is the decisive victor of them all.I love masking tape but sometimes it isn't tough enough.I love painters tape but sometimes it doesn't stick enough.I love scotch tape but sometimes It's too fine.Duct tape tends to ruin surfaces and leaves a clumpy residue.Electrical tape on cardboard is for chumps. But this... This tape is the one that I needed for boxes.

THE ONE
I have tried at least 10 different tapes for packing. All of the heavy duty tapes have started peeling off, wouldn’t stay down and were trash. They worked fine on things other than cardboard, but THIS TAPE…this tape is 100% amazing. Tears easy, sticks great and doesn’t come up or peel. This is the best tape I’ve ever used and that includes, especially on cardboard. Never been so excited about tape. LOL.

Taping up moving boxes, selling stuff on Ebay?...BUY THIS TAPE
I tell everyone I know who will listen if they ever move or regularly tape up cardboard boxes that they need to spend the money and buy this tape. Sure, plastic tape is cheaper but it is NOT better. This stuff only sticks like mad to cardboard and brown paper and when it does it doesn't come off easily. It looks better and makes a package look clean and more secure than plastic tape and here's the best part...YOU DON'T NEED SCISSORS!!!! it rips by hand. I even use this stuff to reinforce brown paper gift bags so I can reuse them again and again before throwing them away. I use it to cover up old shipping labels on used boxes, it does that and looks good and is less noticeable. I sell small stained glass panels and I wrap them in brown craft paper like a gift and this is the tape I use, it makes it look professionally done. You can write on it with permanent marker too, let it sit for 20 seconds or it might smear just a little, it won't rub off. Have you ever had to box up all your crap for a move and you know how you have packing paper, bubble wrap, boxes and your stuff all over the place and you keep losing the scissors to cut your tape? no more, you don't need scissors and this stuff doesn't fold up on itself, it doesn't lose the edge and you spend 5 minutes with your fingernail trying to find it, that is so frustrating. It may seem like a lot of money, but you'll use less because it works so well and no one else will use this tape for other things so when you need it for a box there will always be some. And don't forget, you don't need scissors to tear it, you can just tape boxes without stopping.I'm cheap and this was the best value I could find on Amazon.

Really nice tape but absolutely not worth it
Good for: fixing up old cardboard boxes - especially the decorative ones you’d like to keep for sentimental reasons rather than display. Otherwise is a bit of an eyesore on a patterned box.-occasional shippingNot good for/value isn’t there for: frequent shipping. Yes the boxes look good and hold up well. I get the same with a thick plastic tape that costs me around $1 a roll, versus this $7 a roll. Can’t really imagine a world in which this isn’t very overpriced tape. I ship sometimes 30+ boxes a week. I used this within one week. Realized it wasn’t making since for shipping so used the last few yards to just fix a few boxes I had around the house that were starting to wear out. Might buy again for this purpose if price was around $4-5, or if I could buy in bulk at a more significant discount.

Best Tape For Boxes, Great for Many Uses
I love this tape and use it almost every day. It's strong and is great for putting together cardboard boxes for moving, but it can be used for so many things. I am an artist who uses tape for many things, and this is the one i reach for the most. I use it to label things, sharpie writes perfectly on this tape; I use it to construct things out of cardboard, i use it on paper when i want an interesting texture and color. I like it best for labels because of how well the sharpie adheres to the paper back. The finish is a little glossier than paper, but not nearly as glossy as say traditional plastic packing tape. The tape sticks firmly and stays, but can be removed from cardboard without ripping too much if you know what you're doing and take it slowly, so to some extent it's re-adhesive. I also like that while it's very strong, it is still very thin and can be easily cut open with any sharp tool, even a letter opener, because it is essentially paper. Easy to rip with your hands and easy to get it started to pull off the roll. A definite necessity in my household.
