DO NOT GRIND THE DIMPLES OFF .....Read this first!!!
I have given this ONE STAR for 'easy to install' because of one glaringly obvious error in the instructions.I've installed these euro locks before without any trouble whatsoever. The maker kindly completely ignores the two raised dimples on the outside of the cylinder in their instructions.I see some people have even taken a grinder to the lock in order to get it to fit ....DO NOT DO THAT!!You have to remove both handles AND the thumb turn (you will need a small allen key - not supplied) insert the lock from the outside so that the thumb turn end goes in first, if you find that the barrel appears to get stuck on the dimples take it out and you will probably find that its the plastic inner frame of the door that needs gently cutting back with a craft knife - this is really easy to do if you take your time.Eventually the two dimples will clear the plastic and hit the metal with the 'keyhole' shape .... that is where it should stop, don't try to force it past there, you will know it's in the right position if the screw that holds it in place (You removed this screw to take the old lock out) goes in quite easily.I have absolutely no idea why this is not explained in the instructions by YALE either in writing or on their instruction video!!!

Watch out unless you are replacing a Yale three star for a Yale three star it may not fit !!
A good lock but doesn’t fit all doors because of the bulge on the inside section of the lock. This bulge will prevent the lock from being inserted fully into the hole in the door because the lock mechanism screwed into the edge of the door which contains the shoot bolts and hooks that secure the door when the handle is lifted to lock position. This lock barrel only turns a cam in the mechanism to prevent the handle from pulling back the shoot bolts and hooks. So if your mechanism is of the Yale type this euro barrel lock might fit but if your existing lock does not have the bulge in the middle don’t bother. There is a Yale euro barrel lock that doesn’t have the bulge and is called a “ Yale Euro Barrel one star “ and can be inserted without removing the handle plate. You just have to loosen the screws holding the handle plate and remove the screw on the edge of the door that holds the euro barrel lock. Use the inserted key on the inside of the door to jiggle the lock and slide towards the inside of the door. Reversing the process to insert the new lock into the door.A note - The seller of this lock have decades of experience in the UPVC trade and will give honest advice over the telephone, if you are in doubt about getting the correct lock give them a call first. I have found them to be friendly and give good customer support for the products they sell.

Survived an attempted break in! Perfect!
Well this is a difficult one to quantify so I’ll try and explain why I chose these cylinders over more apparently “secure” ones for sisters new home, with the hope that this will help people decide. The rationale for me is simple.....The Yale Platinum series isn’t the hardest to pick (but it’s absolutely not a easy one, I’ve seen it done by a professional locksmith in the family who takes pride in being able to pick pretty much anything rather than drilling out) it’s not the hardest to snap (but it’s interlocking cam, sacrificial section and forged reinforcements make it one of the best ones out there if it happens for keeping your home secure), it’s also not the cheapest or is it particularly flashy.....but they are reliable & certified 3 star cylinders. My previous house was a new build with a competitor 3* locks fitted as standard (I won’t name directly, but search online for £2000 lock snapping guarantee and you will find it), both front door and patio door locks failed within 2 years and locked us out, and the manufacturer did not give a darn when informed. My mum’s old home had ABS 3* cylinders on, the lock didn’t ever fail, but the keys did. One snapping in lock due to the plastic key handle just shattering and the other, the magnetic element fell out, making the key useless. Both homes locks were replaced by myself with Yale Platinum’s.....they are still going strong. The Yale Platinum lock keys are simple dimple & groove keys, no magnets or other tricks. They are solid and highly resistant to bending which is always a positive. While they need a code to be cut (which is supplied on a card with the cylinder & keys), they can be done by most locksmiths, which saves ordering online and arranging it to be delivered to an alternate address for security. All of the above is why I picked them, and I’ve unfortunately had to report that last year, someone attempted to break into our house via snapping. The lock snapped where it was supposed to, the cam locked firm and they left after 5 mins of trying to get in, with their ugly mugs caught on CCTV to boot. It officially did its job and did it well. So this is why I repurchased these locks for every home I’ve needed them on, and will continue to do so unless they let me down.Hope this review is helpful. If so, drop me a vote and let me know. Stay safe and well everyone.

slightly OTT maybe but only cost slightly more than the 1* Yale superior ones. Fitting caused me a bit of grief ...
Moved into a new build last year, and just had one of the houses burgled.... they snapped the cylinder while the residents were sleeping upstairs and got it silently!!So replaced all our locks with these 3* ones... slightly OTT maybe but only cost slightly more than the 1* Yale superior ones.Fitting caused me a bit of grief initially.... as there are metal dimples on the side which prevent it from installing from the inside (i was very tempted to get the file out to the door!!!) ... so you do need to removed both interior and exterior handles and slide it from OUTSIDE IN.. which with the thumbturn is a little fiddly.... but once i realised this was a piece of cake to fit (and the instructions on the box do actually say this - if i had bothered to read them first!!)Quick delivery via RM from the seller too.

The key is not a full key it’s just the shaft. The plastic is very weak. Ours snapped first day. Now we at down to 2 keys
