... carpenter's pencils are about 18 cents each but they suck really bad
Home Depot carpenter's pencils are about 18 cents each but they suck really bad. Both the wood (cedar) and the lead are too soft. The alternative for me has always been to buy carpenter's pencils at some place like an Ace Hardware store and pay a ridiculous price for a medium lead pencil. I just checked and they want $1.59 for a single pencil. Highway robbery. Then, I got the idea to see what Amazon had to offer and I found these which are medium lead and covered by my Prime membership... medium lead carpenter pencils for about 28 cents each. I bought a box of 72 and tried them out today. They are exactly what I wanted...the same quality as Ace sells for a fraction of the price. Problem solved.

Best carpenter pencils I've ever used
In the past, I've always purchased pencils from the hardware store. I didn't realize what garbage those hardware store pencils were until I got these. Previously I would frequently have a hard time sharpening them because the wood was low quality and the graphite would break. With these, the knife cuts through the wood and the graphite as smooth as butter. It's very easy to sharpen it to a very fine point. Who knew there could be such a difference in carpenter pencils? I also love the fact that they come in so many bright, fun colors. I especially like the pink ones because the women I give them to love them, and the men won't steal them. :D

Sturdy Pencil and Easy to Sharpen
Aftrr purchasing few pencils from Home Depot and listening to my husband's angry rant at the poor quality I decided to purchased a box of 72 count pink carpenter pencils. Very bright and easy to find! My husband was not immediately happy with the color, however the pencils are easy to find and he knows they are his! These sharpen well and are sturdy. My husband is happy with this product and I recommend.

Awesome Carpenter Pencils
Awesome color—easy to spot. (I tend to misplace my pencil). These sharpen up easily, hold a sharp point and make excellent marks. With this many on hand, I’m probably set for life even if I give some to friends.

Great, fairly priced pencils. Definite must have for any carpenter
Very decent pencil. I have 5 guys working for me. I look around now and only see green pencils in their nail bags. No more blue or orange. The lead is centered and hard, making for easily sharpened and long lasting points. the box so far has not produced any pencils with broken leads either. I plan on ordering my third box very soon. I have not been paid in any way for this review. I’m just a carpenter frustrated with sub quality pencils.

Great quality. Great price.
Awesome pencils. Awesome price. Really good quality. Sharpen easily (using a utility knife to sharpen) and nice strong lead that writes on everything and doesn't need to be resharpened very often. I'm known as the pencil guy at work now because everyone always loses their pencils and now I have a giant box of these. Nice bright color (got the green ones) so it makes it hard to lose them too. Will buy again, but these should last me a while because you get so many. Much cheaper than getting pencils somewhere else and great quality.

Sharpen nicely.
I've retired from over 30 years in construction and have no idea of how many pencils I've gone through. What I do know is it's always a crap-shoot when it comes to the quality of wood used by the manufacturer. These pencils sharpen easily and evenly through the consistent wood grain . At my age I probably have a lifetime supply, if not, I would definitely buy them again!

Buy buy buy!!!!
Love love love. The bright yellow is great for those that constantly putting down there pencils on the job site amd loosing them there like little beacons. Can’t loose em. There actually about 20cents more than if you would buy them at Home Depot but worth it to me.
