Just my cup of tea
Not really much to say here, yes these mugs are expensive, all I would say is keep watching the price, normal retail is £149, I have seen the 14oz grey version drop to as little as £99, kicking myself for not buying then, I took the plunge when saw back on offer at £119, the mug itself works flawlessly, I never turn it off manually and goes to sleep as soon as it’s empty and wakes up once a drink is poured into it.The app which I am using on iOS could be much better, it very rarely automatically connects to the mug, however this is not a issue as once you’ve set your desired temperature the mug will remember those settings and the white led will remain solid once that temperature has been reached.I find the mug very easy to wash, I am mainly using with Tassimo coffee so even after being left a couple of hours and there’s a ring round the top of the mug it cleans off very easily.I read previous reviews of folks complaining that the mug marks easily from spoons, so with that in mind I am using wooden tea spoons and can confirm no marks as yet.

Improved scratch resistance
I was pleased that this mug was advertised as improved scratch resistant, although nothing was mentioned on the packaging so I am a bit sceptical. I would of thought if they had improved the main bugbear of this, they would be shouting about it. It does seem to be better, but that maybe because I have more experience with how to clean them effectively now.More importantly my son purchased one of these from the same supplier and received a pillow instead, this is still not remedied…….. The rising price of these cups is making them a target for fraud.

Shame -good mug ruined by bad charger
First off, I've had this mug for over a year now and initially really loved it. Unfortunately, whilst the mug itself seems well designed and works well, the accessories let it down to the point of making it pretty much not worth using. Problem 1 is the app; the mug regularly losing contact over Bluetooth and then you have to reconnect. Problem 2 is worse though. This problem is the £40 coaster which you need to charge the mug. The points on the charger stick up to connect to the gold circle under the mug in order to charge. However, these points are very delicate, both physically from being pressed down into the charger and from water erosion (it holds liquid, splashage is inevitable). I have gone through 3 of these now, not counting the one that came with the mug and I'm done with the mug! I am not using something that requires me to pay £40 every 3 months or so to replace a faulty part. It's a shame because I really do like the mug itself. Back to cup warming plates for me!

Very cool mug, does everything I needed
I've only been using it for a week but so far I'm very impressed. It's obviously way too much money for a mug, but it was on sale and was given a gift voucher from work so was free to me. Anyway, I work from home and was always running up and down the stairs for coffee and warming it up in the microwave, so this cup has changed all that, and I would even say I'm doing more work as coffee is always hot 😅 How I use it is that it stays on the coaster all day keeping my coffee hot and only use the battery if I'm away from the desk so never away for more than 20 mins so the 60-80 min battery life is plenty. App works sometimes with my phone (old android) but isn't really needed as default temp works for me. Love the look and feel up the cup and will update review if it ever breaks.

Great mug, awful app
The mug itself does the best job of keeping a brew at an ideal drinking temperature, and even reheating a brew that was done a bit too cold. Unfortunately it's paired with what might be the single worst app I've ever had the misfortune of using. The app crashes constantly, rarely connects to the mug and is just generally unpleasant to use. Thankfully once you've set an initial heating temperature there's not much need to use the app again. If the Ember team can sort the app out this thing goes right up to a 5 star.

The cup works perfectly, the app not so much.
If you want to set a temperature and just use the cup without the app then it works perfectly. You want to change the temperature of your cup frequently or monitor the temperature of your cup. You're going to run to many issues with the app. It seems like the cup and app do not work well on Android. It seems to work ok on iPhone.

The official Ember App wants you to create an account and give if location permissions ..
.. neither of which are necessary to control any bluetooth device. Because the App is as much a part of your purchase as the mug, I have therefore only rated it 1 star. If, like me, you object to giving Ember your email address and location data then perhaps try the 'Ember Supreme' App instead. It will cost £2.49 but works perfectly well with no account or location data required.Given the price, this is something of a luxury item. It allows your coffee to cool to whatever drinking temperature you have set, but them holds that temperature indefinitely if using the base, or for about an hour and a half if not.
