Hi Dan;Yes it does. In fact, the zippers are on the the side of each boot, facing the in- side of the leg. They also have a two snap leather flap which keeps the zipper in the upright position.

I think these are very suitable for women.

Q: is the boot padded at the top?

No padding at top but still a comfortable boot.

Q: Can the rest of the leather be spit shined to match the toe?

You can put a shine on it but it doesn't shine up as nice as the toe.
