Colours are good. Some colours devolve better in water than others and the lead isn't as easily applied as more expensive watercolour pencil brands ie not as soft, but if they were they'd probably break too easily. But I like the solid sticks and they are very good value for the money. One pencil was broken on arrival and I dropped one on a wood floor and it snapped, so you do have to be a little careful.

These woodless watercolour pencils are an excellent addition to my art box. They are so versatile, you can use them dry as you would a coloured pencil on dry or wet paper, wet brush over what you have drawn or take the colour straight from the pencil with a wet brush. The colours are very strong and vibrant. I'm very pleased with them.

I have this set to my wife for her birthday & it is beautifully presented in it's own case with all you could want, even if you already have similar items.

I have nearly all the brands of artist grade Woodless watercolour pencils, there aren’t many as they still seem to be a bit of niche product and I’m not sure why as you get a lot more pigment in Woodless pencils than you do in wood colour pencils, they’re greener too. Also they are heavier because the pigment weighs more than the wood in normal pencils, which is why I like them.Castle are very good at putting a number on the front of their packaging that doesn’t link to the number of pencils inside, it’s a total of everything you get. This pack includes A5 watercolour books to get you started and portable water brushes that you can fill up and take with you. These are not brilliant in any sense of the word but just acceptable. Look for the Caran d’ache ones if you want something better. The pencils on the other hand are beautiful. The colours mix very quickly with water and don’t leave any stripes underneath. The pigments are strong and the range of colours in this 48, not 60 set is very good.Here is the problem. I don’t know why but on Amazon at the moment they are £60 plus but if you go direct to Castle Ats online they are always usually £39 in the UK. this is of January 2022 and obviously might change. As of now there is very little in the way of reviews for these also, nothing on YouTube and very little online which is strange because the Koh-I-Noor and Arteza’s seem to get a lot of recognition. It’s a big thumbs up here though and as always you get very nice packaging with Castle.

Arrived broken. Castle puts too much material in too small an enveloppe so that the pencils arrived broken. This is unacceptable. 😡

I am a big fan of solid colored pencils. These work well, color options are nice. The water color components work well. My mother has taken mine, so now I am order another set for myself.

Absolument parfait, pour le moment je n'ai fait que le nuancier mais ils sont assez proches des caran d'ache solubles à l'eau. Glissent bien, assez gras, permet des très fins ou plus larges et le pinceau fait le reste pour dilluer les couleurs. Nuancier assez large, assez de couleurs, tons lumineux, se taille bien, pas la peine d'appuyer fort donc ne s'usent pas trop vite. C' est mon premier achat de crayons aquarelables styles pastels grasses autres que les caran d'ache. Évidemment caran d'ache reste le top mais cette marque offre un très bon rapport qualité prix pour ceux qui débutent ou tout simplement pour éviter d'user trop vite les hauts de gamme. Maintenant à voir avec le temps. Le top : livré avec une trousse rangés par couleur, ils sont donc très bien protégés. Envoi très rapide et soigné. Je recommande vivement et j'ai hâte de m'en servir. Castell art est une très bonne moyenne gamme. Mon seul regret c'est qu'il n'y en ait pas plus dans la trousse. Pour moi j'ai les 60...très bon.
