Terrific product!
We are extremely happy with this French Fry cutter. My husband and I researched the many cutters available and settled on this one. It has met our every expectation by readily and uniformly cutting French fries quickly and easily. You do have to apply some pressure to the lever as raw potatoes are hard and dense. If you don't have some arm strength this may not be the cutter for you but I think most will be able to get the hang of it. The machine is on the heavy side with suction cups on the bottom...both important features as you want the machine to be securely in place as you pressing down on the lever to allow it to cut the potatoes. It is easy to take apart to clean and a sturdy brush is included to get in between the cutting holes. You can use this with many other hard veggies besides potatoes: think butternut squash fries as one alternative example. Here is my favorite French fry recipe courtesy of Melissa Clark of New York Times cooking (she is amazing; I recommend any of her cooksbooks.) Baked French Fries 1 1/2 lbs of russet potatoes (about 3 large) 4 Tablespoons of olive oil 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper Step 1 Arrange one oven rack at the lowest point in your oven. Place a large rimmed baking sheet (a sheet pan) on the rack and heat the oven to 500 degrees. Step 2 In a large bowl, toss together your cut potatoes (after using your French fry cutter!) with the olive oil, salt and pepper and any additional seasonings you might like. I often add garlic powder and/or paprika. Carefully remove the now scalding hot baking sheet from the hot oven..close oven door again to not lose heat!. Carefully spread potatoes out on the preheated baking sheet in a single layer and return to oven. Roast until slightly golden and crispy tossing them after 15 minutes. Step 3 Reduce oven temperature to 425 degrees and bake an additional 10-15 minutes. Enjoy! Step 3

Heavy duty - does the job quite well!
This will last a lifetime, that's for sure. Does a great job of making perfectly shaped French fries. If it's not mounted, it is a little awkward to find a good position to muscle the potato through, because one hand is on the lever and the other is holding the device - and it does take some strength (I'm a fit male) if the potato is really hard (tip: Microwave a hard russet for about a minute first to soften it up, then it pushes right through! The little red potatoes I pushed through were a breeze, no strength needed, really. Cut russets in half before pushing through), but there's no magic wand to wave when it comes to manually pushing a potato through a cutter - it is what it is. In comparing it's length, ratios for leverage, etc., with other makes, I can't imagine there being a superior one out there. This is it. The size it is is the size it needs to be to be as efficient as it is. It is well worth the price, if you're serious about making your own fries often. Very simple to remove the two parts to clean them, though the plastic piece can be a little prickly to clean. There is a brush included (which we didn't get, but a quick email to the maker fixed that), so I found that using a knife to get into the crevices is helpful. Others say the brush works well, so I'm glad one is forthcoming. Highly recommend. Edited to say: This review was on the 3/8" cutter. I just got a 1/2" cutter to use with it, and the difference in ease of pushing the potato through is huge - so much easier with the 1/2" to push a potato through - which makes total sense, so take that into consideration when choosing the cutting-hole size.

Does noooooot work for sweet potatoes at all
Ir will not work for sweet potatoes.. I tried cutting them and everything they will not go through it gets jammed. Haven’t tried regular potato’s yet! Very sturdy and good quality just wish sweet potatoes were easier to cut with it

Others may look similar but this is the real deal!
There are several things that set this above the other "green body" French fry cutters. The suction cups are a better quality that cradle the aluminum feet. The attachments for the feet and the cutter heads are not wing nuts they are barrel nuts that are easier to use. The arm that goes between the handle and the pusher head is one piece aluminum not two piece thin metal. There is an easy lock for the pusher head that just turns to release the plastic pusher head for easy cleaning. The stainless steel trough (under the potato) slides out for easy cleaning. I have found that if I center the potato in the center of the cutting head rather than setting it on the stainless steel "V" tray, the potato cuts easier and the potato skins don't clog the edges of the cutting head making it easier to clean the head. I purchased both the 1/2" and 1/4" heads but I use the included 3/8" and 1/2" the most. I would highly recommend this cutter as it works very well and is a good value for the price.

Amazingly fast at cutting fries
We used to hand cut our fries. Now we can cut a potato faster than getting one out of the potato bag. It takes little effort to push the potato through. The blade is SHARP. Requires careful handling. Easy cleanup - just be careful handling the blades. Sweet potatoes are much more dense that regular potatoes so do as directions recommend and microwave for a bit. Otherwise, you will struggle cutting and possible dull your blade faster. We LOVE this cutter.

I had bought a cheaper, you know the ones, Chinese made and likes to eat your fingers, the blades had started to bend after rhe 2nd use too, I stamped on that nasty one and bought this beauty. Gonna last that's for sure. This one takes much longer veggies and cuts beautifully, still needs some pressure but that long arm helps. You love your fries then go for it.
