Q: Is there a protectant I can put over this without losing my "dead flat" look?

I put a protective coating of poly on first and then use the dead flat. That way I have the protection plus the flat finish.

Q: Once applying this product, how do you best clean the surface after use, spills, etc? Plain soap and water or a special wood cleaner?

If using the exterior use product, water or soap and water are fine.

Q: Does this bring out the grain of the wood? I want to maintain the color the wood but I also want the wood grain to pop out. Is there a better product?

This product won't enhance the grain It will leave it looking exactly the same only with the matte finish. If you want to enhance the grain first use a water-based stain and then use this product on top. This product does do very well on exteriors I have used it on my front door and garage door and it has held up to many seasons of rain and sunshine in Southern California
