Great binder with some drawbacks
I have a love-hate relationship with this planner. I love the idea of it, but actually using it bothers me. On the one hand, I think the leather is so soft and touchable, and I've yet to find a binder with a pocket layout that beats it. On the other hand, these are the two things that bother me about the planner too.The leather: It varies from binder to binder, but it comes with a slick coating. Mine was very smooth leather, which I loved. Over time, the coating wears off and the leather starts to look more wrinkly and dried. Also, because of the way it's designed, a long crease develops on either side of the spine. (I've seen some photos of Maldens where this doesn't happen, but I'm not sure what makes the difference). It looks kind of odd because the rest of the leather has remained relatively smooth. I don't baby the planner, but I'm also not putting it with my keys or anything, so I haven't gotten any scratches. Once or twice I've accidentally scratched it with my nails, but those scratches rub out easily. I have an A5 Malden that I purchased used that I love despite the creasing and scratches. I think the hardest part is going from perfectly smooth leather to a rougher one, like an awkward teenager phase. The pockets: Tons of pockets to fit everything you could possibly want. But they also make the binder bulkier on the inside, which limits your ring space. I prefer my Filofaxes that have a flatter pocket design because it's easier to write on the early pages. Also, the zipper on the front damages whatever insert is at the very front. I put a plastic flyleaf in the front now to protect my pages, but it's a pain to have to do that. The rings: The rings on mine were fine at first, but two of them have since developed a gap. I took very good care of the rings and don't have a lot of inserts in my binder, so I'm not sure how that happened. For a ~$70 planner, this shouldn't happen. As much as all these things frustrate me, it's still one of the Filofaxes that I can't bring myself to sell. I love the feel of the leather, and I love the floppiness of the covers (not quite as floppy as a Van der Spek Touch Me but there's no stiffener in it). It's a beautiful color as well. It's certainly one of the nicest Filofaxes you'll get for this price. If you're willing to spend more, the Finchley and Regency are much better binders that will hold up with use.

A Really Stylish Organizer.
Had been wanting a organizer/journal for a while. I initially bought an Ochre pocket which was a little too small for me but gorgeous so I kept it and went the next size up to the personal. I think for me other than it being to small it was uncomfortable when I would be writing in it and my hand would rest on the pen loop. Not the case here. Like the pocket the personal size is a real beaut. The stitching is really nice and it has that nice new leather smell to it. It has plenty of slots and pockets to keep change, papers and cash.I also bought: ANCICRAFT Refills Paper 6 Hole A6 3.75 X 6.75 Inches Blank Craft Paper for Loose Leaf Binder Notebook 100 Sheets / 200 Pages So I can sketch designs and ideas in pencil or ink when an idea hits me on the go. The colored paper compliments the organizer and looks nice.I would also recommend getting: Mead Vinyl Loose-Leaf 6-Ring Memo Book Refill, College Rule, 6-3/4 x 3-3/4-Inch, White, 80 Sheets, 6 Pack (46534) Since the planner doesn't come with a lot of paper and it's dated and sectioned so writing space is somewhat limited. With this 6 pack you'll have plenty of pages and space to write. If you are in the market for a nice organizer that will be nice to look at and a pleasure to write in grab one of these!Have a good day!

Love My Malden!
I love my Malden! Shipping was super fast. I had it in 2 days. The planner itself is every bit of goodness you've heard about it. The feel of the leather is amazing, not to mention the smell...yum! The quality is stunning. It came wrapped in the plastic Filofax cover inside a box which was then packaged in another box...very safe and secure! My only complaint is about the pen loop. It's simply too small for any of the pens I prefer (Pilot G2 Limited, Pentel Energel). I tried stretching the loop but that didn't seem to help so I'm clipping my gold G2 limited to the back pocket. That works fine but I wish the loop was a little bigger. Other than that, it's perfect.I opted not to use the Filofax inserts that came with it. They are perfectly fine but I prefer a vertical view and decided to design my own inserts and dividers. I like being able to personalize it the way I want. Everything about this little thing is amazing. Definitely a great purchase!

Great little organizer.
Gorgeous. Of all the Filofax designs, I like the Malden the best for the pockets and pouches on the inside (including a zippered one!). The leather is good quality and well-stitched, no complaints about the rings or inside structure, and the inserts--tabs, notepads, calendar, ruler, paper, etc.--are nice, although I plan to replace them with some fun themed ones. The only problem I have is that the pen loop is too small to hold my favorite pens (Pilot G2 -- the soft grip won't fit through), but this is a fairly minor complaint as I can still clip it inside the rings. Otherwise, this is the best planner I've ever had, and I hope it holds up for a while. Kudos to the seller for super fast shipping and extremely well-padded packaging!

Beautiful binder!
fter watching many Youtube videos on this planner, I decided to spring for one to hold my personal sized inserts. The leather is beautiful and very soft. It came very well packaged and protected; no marks or blemishes of any kind. The rings are very tight with no gaps. It included the typical week on two page Filofax inserts, as well as note paper, a ruler, dividers, and one plastic top loading sheet protector. The pen holder is rather small, but it is not an issue for me. For a frame of reference, it will hold a new Paper Mate Ink Joy pen, but it is very snug. I highly recommend this binder for anyone wanting to try a binder diary system, or planner lovers alike.
