My favorite keyboard to date, even over my previous mechanical keyboard
I am in love with this keyboard!I know I'm about to be judged, but my previous keyboard was a mechanical one. I know, I know, I'm choosing a chiclet over a mechanical? Am I crazy? But truthfully, I love this one SO much more than my mechanical. I'd been using my previous mechanical keyboard for about two years (the Rosewill keyboard with cherry blue switches), and though it's definitely awesome when you need to type at length, my main use for my keyboard is to use hotkeys for software I work in, with occasional email and other messages I need to write. The main reason I was looking for a new keyboard for after two years was, simply put, the noise from the mechanical keyboard was starting to bother me. It was simply too loud! When using the keys as hotkeys, it was annoying having to hear click-click-click for just a simple hotkeys I needed to be pressing often to use the functions in the software I use.I almost bought one of the Mac chiclet keyboards, as my university had them in college, and I remember them being fun to type on and quiet. I mainly wanted something quiet, and that would potentially look nice on my desk. I really wanted something like the Mac keyboard but in a black PC style, but I couldn't seem to find a PC equivalent, and was just about willing to settle for the Mac aluminum keyboard and remap the keys for a PC if it was the only option available.I found a few other chiclet keyboards, but they either weren't aluminum, weren't full-size, or had some non-standard arrangement of keys (it was important for me to have a full-size keyboard with standard key configuration - F-keys in 3 rows of four, large backspace and enter keys, insert/home/delete/page up/page down keys in two rows of three). But then, after some searching, I discovered this I-Rocks keyboard, and was surprised to see they actually did offer it in black! How cool! I saw the reviews here and on Newegg were rather mixed, but in the end, decided to chance it (anything to not have to use my loud keyboard any longer!).The shipping was amazingly fast, I chose the free option and it arrived two days later. I set it up immediately, and it worked without a hitch. The driver is just a basic Windows keyboard one that installed itself automatically, but the media buttons worked (the home/browser button, search, favorites, email) - I'm using Windows 7, so it's probably due to the OS. The function commands also worked (volume and media playback controls) as they should. But I wanted custom keys anyway, so I've overridden the default media keys to my custom ones using AutoHotkey, and also overridden the default function commands to activate without needing to use the function key, as I never use F7 - F12 normally anyway (if I need to use them I just remap them on an application-specific basis using AutoHotkey).I'll lastly comment on the feel of the keyboard itself. The keys are solid, and though a bit different than the Mac chiclet keyboard, it's not different in a bad way. The reviewer who compared the buttons to a high quality D-pad had it right - it is a joy to type on. The top is sexy black aluminum, the back a pleasing black plastic. I love the color scheme of black + orange for this keyboard (the orange is subtle, just for the function key and commands).Important for me, and a factor for buying this keyboard, is that the spacebar depresses easily even when pressed from the edges. This was critical for me because my left hand is usually by the edge of the keyboard and tends to hit the spacebar at the very edge - no problem with this keyboard. It doesn't miss any strokes.Typing is very fast, as with chiclets in general, since the distance to activate is so short. Typing on this keyboard is actually less tiring on my hands than a mechanical. It's been my experience that chiclets sort of force you to also use better posture for your wrists, as in order to type you can't have your wrists resting on the table - they have to type off the desk. This causes your wrists to be naturally straight as you type.I love that the function keys are laid out in three groups of four, making it easy to quickly find the key you need. I also love that the backspace is a normal, large size, and the insert, home, delete, page up and page downs are in the normal configuration of two rows of three. There are blue LED's for the NumLock key and the CapsLock key. The NumLock key's LED's do bleed a bit into the three adjacent keys, but it's nothing blinding - the light is actually quite soft and not distracting in any way. It's not significant for me at all.All in all, I am very impressed and satisfied with this keyboard. What bliss to be able to type the keys as much as I want and not be bombarded with clicking sounds. I'm in keyboard-heaven!I like this keyboard so much I am considering buying a spare just in case they stop making them for whatever reason, which I sincerely hope they never do, as I will be so sad if I can't buy more of these keyboards! It's absolutely perfect for what I was looking for, and I'm very happy I took a chance and ordered it. :)

Disappointing quality control on a great design (USB disconnecting + more)
Let's start with the good in this keyboard, because there is a lot to like. The design is perfect. Slim, compact. Feels solid with little flex, but isn't too heavy. The brushed aluminum looks great. The included keys are also useful (media controls, music button, mail button). Only key it's missing is the sleep key. I used this keyboard with a Win 10 PC, as I'm assuming was intended based on the Windows key.Speaking of the keys, they have a short travel distance and stay satisfyingly quiet. The flat and minimal design looks great anywhere. It would be my favorite keyboard ever.Would be.Unfortunately, there are a number of issues with the keyboard that make it severely annoying to use day-to-day. I'd say the biggest issue is the disconnecting. At any point, the keyboard can disconnect from the PC for 2-3 seconds at a time. If you're playing a game, whatever keys you were pressing upon disconnecting will continue to be pressed until the keyboard reconnects and you press and unpress those keys. The disconnect can be triggered by touching the cable, moving the keyboard, or simply existing in this material plane. I've heard it disconnecting and reconnecting when I wasn't even in the room. The 6 key doesn't work. At all. Only on the number pad. I don't like to have numpad turned on because the LED indicator bleeds light from underneath the home key, and into the other indicators. (picture included)There are a lot of gaps between the keys and the board underneath. So with these issues present, I ordered a replacement. Here are the issues the replacement had:* Still disconnected* The 6 key still doesn't work* Now, the B key is having issues; Needs a harder than usual press to register. A couple other letters suffer the same fate. While they still technically work, the firmness they need to register often sees me miss those letters when typing naturally. There is no reason for a keyboard to require extra attention to specifically press certain letters much harder than others.TL;DR: Product has much potential but is plagued by issues in manufacturing. Highly disappointing that even the replacement board exhibited the same issues (and more). Cannot recommend this board when each order is a lottery.
