Yes you can push it on a standard stem but it trys to hang a little bit when takeing it off if it's not pulled off straight but to me that's a good thing because it kinda locks itself on so you don't have to kept a lot of pressure on the stem while filling the tire with air. Q: is it 3/8 inch scew in?

The specifications on the Amazon site state it is 1/4" female NPT. I also checked the manufacturer's web site at miltonindustries.com and on page 57 of their PDF catalog it shows the S693 having a 1/4" female NPT fitting. Since you will likely use other tools, you should buy a 1/4" male NPT plug with the appropriate connector for the quick-release fitting at the end of your air hose. These plugs should only be $2 to $3 each. If you are going to connect this directly to a hose, without a quick-connect fitting, then you should be able to obtain a 3/8" to 1/4" adapter at a local hardware store. Don't forget to use Teflon tape on the threads.

Q: what is the overall length?

The length is 7.5 inchs I love mine , I it all heavy equipment works on inside and outside tires.

Q: Will this chuck fit large RV 22.5 inch tires and auto tires also, or just large truck tires.

It should fit cars and single RV wheels, but hard to find a chuck that fit the dual rear tires on our RV. It depends on the placement of the valve stems on the wheel (it is hard to reach the inside rear tire on the RV and the stem placement makes it impossible to use this chuck).
