Solid mount with a few issues, working with mfg. to get it corrected. UPDATE: No more problems, extremely happy!
UPDATE 2: 05/17/17I got the replacement mount last night, and they did exactly what they said they would. The mount has been raised slightly which allows my upper handguard to fit with plenty of clearance. The new pin they sent is much better. It's no longer a roll pin, just a solid pin. It pushes right in with finger strength, no tapping required. It's actually quite loose when you first put it in (mine fell out and I had to go searching for it, so be careful). Once you tighten down the mount, it puts tension on the pin... it's not going anywhere now.Throughout the past few months I have been using this mount, it's remained solid as a rock with 200 rounds of 8mm Mauser down the pipe. It's a great solution to be able to use an optic on your Mauser without having to use a scout scope, and I can recommend it with 100% confidence to anyone. I already have a second one on the way. Thanks again to the people at BadAce for the excellent customer service!UPDATE 1: 03/10/17I have been in contact with the manufacturer trying to sort out the issues I outlined in my initial review. As things progress, I will continue to add relevant information, and adjust my opinion accordingly. The consensus is that while I do have an M48, and it appears to be the correct handguard, my sight base appears to be mounted slightly farther back, which is why the taper on my handguard did not align with the taper on the mount. It's possible that throughout different production years, this dimension changed. They offered to redesign the product to accommodate my rifle, which hopefully will accommodate anyone else who also has a rifle with the same dimensions as mine. They are also going to slightly slim down the roll pin, which is a bonus. When complete they intend to send me parts for testing, and offered me a fair discount in exchange for my help. For now, I'm updating my review to four stars. My expectations for customer service we're completely blown away, I'm very pleased with the way they have handled my concerns. As I said in my review, with the archangel stock, there are no fitment issues as the handguard isn't being used, and it works great. It's incredibly solid, and it's holding up to the recoil of 8mm Mauser no problem. If everything is sorted out, I will be getting a second one for another Mauser that will be keeping the stock furniture. At that time, I'll update my review, and score, appropriately.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ORIGINAL REVIEW:I'm in the process of sporterising a M48, and this mount appeared to be exactly what I wanted. I wanted something that wouldn't require a scout scope. My options were pretty much this, or a cheap option, which required modifying the stock, and seemed generally to be of questionable quality. I decided to pay up for something that I assumed would be a high quality product. There were some hang-ups that I wouldn't have expected buying something this expensive. My first issue was getting the actual base plate on. The installation was nowhere near as quick as their you-tube tutorial makes it out to be. The included roll pin was incredibly stubborn. It took me over an hour, working with a combination of heat and lube to finesse the roll pin into place. To call it tight would be an incredible understatement. Keep in mind, this was the roll pin interacting with the base plate, not the actual sight mount on my rifle, so you can't chalk this one up to requiring fitting or anything like that. One of the parts appears to have been made with slightly less tolerance than it should have. In the process of trying to get it in, I did a number on the finish to the sight base, which now looks pretty shoddy. But, it does work. The second issue encountered, and one that really bothers me, is that the despite the pictures, and what is claimed, this did not fit with my top hand guard. The fitment was simply not right. My hand guard can only be in one place, there is no room to adjust there (without removing a significant amount of material from the external portions of the wood. Maybe this one you can toss up to not all things being created equal, maybe somewhere along the line the hand guard was modified with M48's. All I know is that for me, the top hand guard cannot be used with this mount, not without significant modification. As it is, I plan to replace the stock, so this will be a non-issue for me, but still not what I'd expect given the cost. If you plan to keep your factory stock, tread lightly. You may have trouble. With everything installed, this is still ultimately the best mount for my application. It achieves the goal I wanted, not having to use a scout scope. And the mount is solid as a rock, I am confident that it will hold zero. From that aspect, I'm pleased. If everything installed a little smoother and fit as it should, it would have been a bit easier to justify the price, which I think is steep regardless. As it is, $130 is really too much to ask for an item that still has some fitment issues, and in the case of my roll pin, perhaps some manufacturing inconsistencies. At a lesser price, I'd be a little more willing to overlook these issues.EDIT: I will add that I've now fired around 100 rounds with this mount installed, and it's still solid as a rock, holding zero just fine. So, like I said above, once it's on, it's on.

Does Not Fit Mitchel Mauser Without Modification
Mitchel Mauser M48A. I Removed The Original Rear Sight And Spring Easily But Every Part of This Mount Was Slightly Too Big To Fit, Including The Pin! You Need A Gunsmith To Grind Every Part Down. It’s So Close To Fitting You May Be Able To Force It In But You Risk Muckin Up Your $140 Purchase! Not My MO.

Easy to install. Amazing product.
Okay, the other reviews make this sound like it takes a gunsmith to install but it DOESN'T! (or at least not in my case) All you need is a small punch and pliers. Start off with the small punch and punch out the small pin at rear sight. take a slightly bigger punch and hit the sight at a 45° angle towards the REAR of the firearm (it should pop out after a few hits)Then take the Sight spring out (may take pliers! pull towards the FRONT of the firearm) It may fight a little due to Cosmoline or grit. after a few it will pop out then the rest is downhill from here!!! Clean it up and slide the nut in place and tap it with a punch towards the REAR of the firearm, lay the NDT rail in place and line up the PIN and the SCREW hole (may take some adjusting to the nut to get it perfect) After it's all lined up simply tap the pin into place and screw it down (Blue Loctite is included but I didn't need any) It's super simple and straight forwards to install! Will Update after hunting season and some more range time.

They were nice enough to provide pictures and measurement details of this ...
I was concerned my unmarked M48 would not meet the standards of this kit, so I asked the staff to send me measurements. They were nice enough to provide pictures and measurement details of this kit.I finally ordered one and upon receiving it, it took me about 10 minutes to set up the entire thing. And yes, it was a perfect fit.

Super easy to install
I was worried about installing this, as some reviews stated they had issues. Installed in about 5 minutes on my M48 Mauser. Easy instructions, and it feels very solid.

MAY NEED A GUNSMITH DEPENDING ON WHAT RIFLE YOU HAVE
4 stars not because of the product but rather the installation of it... my M48A's retaining pin on the rear sight was snug in there pretty tight.

STAY AWAY, VERY FAR AWAY
I didn't buy this product from Amazon but rather from their direct site. I do own this product, I have it installed on my M48A and let me tell you, it was NOT worth the trouble, I PROMISE YOU. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS, DO. NOT.THIS DOES REQUIRE A GUNSMITH! I took this to my local gunsmith and even he had beyond hell of a time trying to get this all installed. The hardest part of installing this is removing the rear sight leaf. Removing the upper handguard and rear sight pin is bad enough but removing the rear sight leaf was so hard you wouldn't believe..-PROS-*Atleast it's compatible*I can now mount scopes n what not on my rifle-CONS-*GUN SMITH IS ACTUALLY REQUIRED*LITERALLY ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO INSTALL*OVER PRICED! WAY OVERPRICED. Had I remembered, I could of had my scope drilled and tapped on for $25 by my local smith but had forgot that he had that service. Also, for some reason the one on Amazon is $15 more? oddPLEASE TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, THIS IS NOT WORTH IT.I HAVE YET TO SHOOT WITH THIS THING ON SO THERE COULD BE MORE ISSUES DOWN THE PIPELINE.DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID AND STAY AWAY FROM PRODUCTS LIKE THESE.
