Need a sturdy box spring for a Dream Cloud Hybrid Mattress, this is it!
We recently purchased a Dream Cloud Premier Hybrid Mattress two weeks ago to replace the mattress we had had on our king size bed for the last 10 years. This new hybrid mattress we bought from the Dream Cloud web site is great, but at a height of 14 inches, it was 5 inches thicker than what we had. After it arrived we decided to keep and use the current double box spring we had been using, which were 9" thick, and metal bed frame with headboard that we already had. But we found with that 5 inches of increased height with our new hybrid mattredd that the top of the bed was now much higher then we liked. We love our new mattress, but with having our mattress 5 inches higher it was a little more effort to get on the bed and our feet didn't touch the floor when we sat on the edge of the bed.We were new to the hybrid mattress requirement of not needing a regular box spring, so we decided to see if we could go lower. I read all the reviews for platform bed frames designed for a hybrid mattress. Many of these reviews, the ones made out of wood, complained about their platform bed frame not holding up, with their wood slats cracking, breaking, and making noise, legs breaking off, etc. We surely didn't want any of that plus we wanted to keep out headboard at the same time. Those reviews helped us decide on trying this metal box spring by Zinus. We selected the 4" thick choice for our king size bed cause we wanted the bed top lower. Let me tell you, we are 100% satisfied with the way it is constructed, the ease of putting it together, and the way our new 14" hybrid mattress fits on it. Everything fit like a glove. It doesnt make a sound if we get up or toss and turn, and the mattress stays in place. Here are a few pictures we took as we put it together from start to finish. Before we put the new 4" metal box spring together, we removed those two 9" box springs we had to make room for the new metal one. It took us about 30-40 minutes to put the metal pieces together but it all went smooth. Everything fit nice and easy. The small rachet wrench that is included was a big help in tighting everything. And it only 16 screw bolts were required to fasten everything. Once finished, this new box spring fit right inside the original metal bed frame we had. The fabric cover went on next and fit over the top like a fitted bed sheet. Next we placed our new 14" mattress on top of everything and were very excited with our it fit the bed now. We actually had more mattress support when we laid on the bed. My husband and I were also now able to sit completely on each side of the bed with our feet on the floor. Having the top surface of the bed 5 inches lower on a metal frame strong enough also to support everything has made all the difference. We couldn't be more satisfied. If you have a king size hybrid mattress and want it lower to get on easier with plenty of support underneath this is the metal smart box spring to get.UPDATE: 7 days later. Both of use are enjoying our new mattress very much, thanks to the 4" metal box frame. No moverment what so ever, solid as a rock. The lower height we now have has made all the difference. One thing I wanted to add if you order the king size box, is the box is heavy. My husband had to use a 2-wheel dolly to move it from the front door, through the house and into the rear bedroom. But once the box is open, all the pieces are marked and easy to connect.2nd UPDATE: Box spring frame is still doing good. Has been a month since we received this, and we'll still 100% satisfied with our purchase. The upper mattress does not move at all, and makes no noise getting on, moving about on it, or getting off of it. We like it enough that we're going to purchase a similar box spring like this for a twin bed that we have in another room sometime this year.

Yes, you can use a metal boxspring
I spent so long researching my mattress purchase that what I was gonna put it on became an afterthought...until I read the mattress warranty and realized I could void it if I wasn't careful. Well, I had a problem. All I had was this expensive mattress and everyone online saying the best bedframes were solid wood with a center beam and many slats lined up close together. Well, that kind of quality is usually only sold in a full bedroom set, or along with the mattress purchase in a bundle. Whoops.Starting from scratch like I did, you have to know what the difference between a bedframe and a boxspring is, because lots of people (even the professionals) use the words interchangeably but in listings like this it is imperative to know that this is a boxspring that is supposed to go on top of a bedframe, and not all bedframes are made for boxsprings, such as platform bedframes that are made for a mattress only. Confused yet? I'm truly sorry. Long story short... if you buy this boxspring listing, build it, put it on the floor, then put your mattress on it, well the world won't end!! BUT your expensive mattress company might use it as an excuse to void the warranty.WITH THAT BEING SAID, this listing is not the only product I purchased. I also bought this same company's $40 bedframe that a boxspring is meant to be placed on top of. So I built THAT bedframe, then I built THIS listing's boxspring. The boxspring went on top of the bedframe, and the mattress went on top of the boxspring. See pictures if you're still confused. Now onto the actual product review...This product hits all the major points: there is a center beam and there are twice as many slats as other metal bedframes out there. Please understand that is why this listing costs twice as much as other listings. It is a justifiable price difference for twice the stability and material. The only point it doesn't hit is that metal isn't solid wood. Well, I didn't want to buy a solid wood monstrosity that would take forever to build and be impossible to move.I'm very happy with this purchase. The metal snaps into place just like the description says so it was super easy to build. I used the rubber grips that come with it on contact points that I was worried might end up squeaking. This company's other bedframe listing comes with the rubber grips too. It is a nice touch that shows they are directly responding to criticisms that wood is superior because it doesn't squeak. If anything breaks I will see if I can update this listing but so far I think the price was well worth the ease of installation and sturdiness of the final product. I hope this review helped someone like me who is trying not to void their mattress warranty!!
