Beauty and the Beast Rolled Into One Powerful Hammer.
Excellent Product. It is hard to believe that a basic tool, such as a hammer could be improved. We all have standard hammers and as part of a small kitchen tool kit, we have a couple of screw drivers and hammers from the dollar store. We are under going an extensive house remodeling and baring walls down to the studs.Pros:This hammer has a nice weight to it that it is hard to find in other brands. The side indention to remove nails is a must when working in tight spaces that don't allow the longer nail puller to be used. The grip is excellent. It allows for a firm grip when you need it most and cushions the blows to reduce stress to hand/joints.The flat head is exactly what we needed. (There is a version with the milled -indented- head)Magnetic nail started - Very useful.Solidly built in one piece. No welds or joints.Sears price is over $100 and Amazon has it for less than half the price. Home Depot price is comparable (as of this writing) to Amazon, but it is not always in stock or it may not be the 19 ounce version (as we found out).Cons:I only list the cons here that some people may find these important. We don't because the product does what we need it to do.* The price may be too steep for someone who occasionally drives a nail through the wall.* The color is black, not blue as described on Amazon's website.

Great hammer. Nostalgic name.
This hammer is great. I recently replaced an old fiberglass handle hammer with this and the shock absorption of the Estwing is superior. I will say, the 15oz version I have does feel a little light for framing. It worked, but maybe a 20oz would have served me better. None the less, I chose this one because I liked the all black theme of it. It is a hammer and I in no way expect it to stay looking good, but I will say that my hammer loop is metal and it quickly wore and chipped the black paint off the base of the hammer head and most of the shaft where the Estwing name is. Like I said, I don't care because its a hammer...but if that is something that's going to bother you, then I'd suggest the unpainted all silver version.

Wrong item sent twice, guess I'll review what I got
Ordered a 15oz textured face with rubber grip, twice, and was sent a 19oz smooth face with leather grip, twice. Amazon has the wrong item inside the bubble wrap, the exterior label is correct that they scan. Here is the review of what I actually received:19oz Smooth face leather wrapped hammer. This is a big framing hammer. Really, you can get some larger nails in with 1-2 hits easily. The balance is excellent, although the weight took me some getting used to. I absolutely love the nail starter. It works like a charm. The face hits cleanly and doesn't slide off the nail. The leather grip is nice, if you like that thing. My arm was not appreciative.Overall, this is a good hammer that is built to last. I just wish it was the hammer I ordered and want to use for my job.

Nice Product. I bought a 15oz and a 19oz
Nice Product. I bought a 15oz and a 19oz. The 15 came with a shaft that was molded into the handle off kilter, so head was more as much as 3/8" shifted to the right. Didn't want to retrain to hammer off center, so was replaced. Nice looking hammer, but the glossy finish seems destined to be history in a hurry....would think a more durable finish or maybe at least the sides of the head where it will get bashed up would be unfinished. The head part of the hammer (side that strikes nail) is much shorter than any hammer I have had, will see if this ends up being a knuckle buster. Like the nail starter and side nail puller. Overall like the products, have had Estwings for years....always deliver.

Love it
So much better than I expected. I am a professional trim carpenter. I am honestly more used to using 16 ounce hammers. However, I occasionally do other carpentry work like some framing and decks. I have found myself using this 19 ounce hammer so much more than expected. Even in my trim work. It's very well balanced and doesn't feel heavy at all. Loving it.

Limitless power at your fingertips!
You can keep your $100+ stilettos and your dalluges!!no amount of rage you can muster will crack the head off this little thump dumper, you can pry out out a miss-cut header that’s been nailed more times than a sorority sister at a Florida Georgia line concert and I promise you the handle will not crack bend or break!Feels great in your hand boom that’s what she said and while the face is a bit smaller, trust that you won’t notice after a week.Buy this hammer even if you don’t need a hammer.
