Yes, it can fit a 3-inch wide coffee mug in it with or without a laptop in the laptop sleeve. However, it doesn't have a pop pocket to carry bottles and we wouldn't recommend it for that purpose. The Tokyo Work Bag has an external pocket for water bottles that can also fit the 3" wide coffee mug and it's better suited for that use.
