My 7 year old son and I have been enjoying listening to the Magic Animal Rescue series by E.D. Baker!! These are delightful beginning chapter books that star a young girl named Maggie, who lives with her mean stepmother and siblings while her father is away. She lives near a forest full of magical creatures that she seems to have a special connection to. This series is sweet and adorable. I'm thankful we started listening to the audiobook because I discovered that the hard copy books are very pink and glittery and clearly geared towards girls which unfortunately would turn my son off. Love audiobooks!! We found this one on the free RBdigital app.

My nearly 7 year old checked this book out from our local library. She finished it in a day because she loved it. She loves to read and declared this book her favorite book of all time. She thought it was very funny. We'll be buying this one and the others in the series.

I’ve been reading this series to my 7 year old before bed and she loves them. It’s a cute story that engages her. Just enough drama with the mean step mom and step brother to keep her intrigued and she loves the magical creatures, too.
