Great for tracing wires and network (RJ45) cables. The only thing to complain about is that you can't test telphone (RJ11). Had to make an adaptor to convert from RJ45 to RJ11 and let 4 wires not read.

I took this to a clients office to put in some network equipment. Of course the low voltage people didn’t label the jacks or the patch panels. We’d attempted to trace the lines with another, more expensive brand on a previous visit. This one is sensitive enough tracing was quick, the client is happy, and I feel like it’s money well spent.This unit will tone out a low voltage run, and it can check for continuity and pin out. It does not check impedance. You’ll need a cable analyzer for that.

Was afraid it would not trace 110v in our walls, but it did, and saved us hiring someone to chop up the sheet rock to find our problem! Be patient with it--go slow and rework your progress often. It paid off for us and I hope it will for you.

Was as advertised but there were no batteries included. The video on the product says it comes with batteries but there were not included.
