I was going to leave a rather negative review because the mat didn't work for me since I was sinking into the PVC, but then I noticed that the vendor clearly says (in several places) to only use if you (and I guess your chair) are under 180lbs! I will not fault them for my inability to fully read, but I wanted to advise you to purchase the polycarbonate version if you have a little extra junk in your trunk and might be close to or exceed the weight limit! I gave this mat to my wife and ordered the polycarbonate which (so far) has worked great.

I had to replace a chair mat for my computer desk - The old one was 16 years old and started to crack where the chair wheels rolled over the mat. My computer room has a VERY low pile burber carpet. The mat came rolled in a box. It would have been nice if it was shipped flat but for cost reasons I understand. Because of the mat's thickness and also it's very pliable I honestly believe it won't last a year, if I'm lucky. I should have not recycled the shipping box as I would have returned it. Needless to say I am disappointed and feel that I will be replacing this mat soon.

Why aren't all mats shipped flat? Mine refuses to budge out of its rolled position - as if it has been rolled since it came off the manufacturing floor. I have it sitting in the sun on a heat vent hoping that it will relax enough to try to unroll it. The smell is overwhelming. I may sit it outside for a month before I replace my old cracked mats. The reason for the three stars is because it is rolled up and the horrible smell. Once it is down and the smell is gone I am sure it will be fine. My first ones lasted 18 years and I work from home. I chose this brand because I saw that they are shipped flat. Did not notice that further down in the description it says the larger ones are shipped rolled.

Excellent chair mat! Flattened out quickly and stays put. A different chair mat was ordered initially and that one refused to flatten out. Also, it did not stay put. Seems crazy to be excited about something so simple as a chair mat but when you've fought with another one of inferior quality, you appreciate one that simply does what it is supposed to do.

When they say, "for Very Low Pile Carpets they actually mean, "No pile carpets"! I bought this because my home office has very low pile wool carpet. I measured it and the pile is actually 1/4" high. That to me is low pile. This mat is very flexible and the casters on my chair, 5 of them, would sink down into the mat so it was hard to move the chair after I had been sitting in it for a short time. I'm a guy but I only weigh 180 lbs. So this mat gets a big FAIL from me. It might possibly work on a hardwood floor but it ended up in the landfill - which is a real shame.

I was hoping that this mat would be stiff enough for a low pile carpet, but it is not. It is thinner and more narrow in size than the mat it is replacing. Whereas my previous mat held firm for over five years, this mat is too thin, immediately sinking under the chair wheels. The dimensions of the mat are just large enough for the chair, but not wide or tall enough to cover the floor for the full range of chair movement when I'm not sitting still. Also, the spikes on the bottom do not hold it in place on the carpet. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to replace it.

I remembered how much easier it was to roll my desk chair around on the carpeting, so I treated myself to this floor mat. I was delighted from the moment I laid it on the floor at my desk!! I laid it out and carefully and with intent walked over every square inch of it, which set it up for perfect rolling movement. Vinyl seems to be substantial while pliable enough to conform to the floor/carpeting to make just the right rolling surface for my large executive chair!

Mat is well constructed and holds a chair well. Chair movement (sliding) is consistent and easy to maneuver on. Only reason this is not five stars is because of this mats grip. While good, it is intended for SHORT fiber carpet. My carpets fiber is just a little long and so this mat will shift every no and then. Other than that, this is a good product.
