2022 release, the 13th studio album from the alt-rock band. "We went in search of ourselves as the band that we have somehow always been. Just for the fun of it we jammed and learned some old songs. Before long we started the mysterious process of building new songs. A beautiful bit of chemistry meddling that had befriended us hundreds of times along the way. Once we found that slip stream of sound and vision, we just kept mining. With time turned into an elastic waist band of oversized underwear, we had no reason to stop writing and rocking. It felt like a dream. When all was said and done, our moody love for each other and the magic of music had gifted us with more songs than we knew what to do with. Well we figured it out. 2 double albums released back to back. The second of which is easily as meaningful as the first or should that be reversed. 'Return of the Dream Canteen' is everything we are and ever dreamed of being. It's packed."

Absolute stunner, I like this more than Unlimited Love, the best since Stadium Arcadium, imo.Well thought out compositions.That the band has matured so much since the early days and they delve into newer territory while never losing their identity. The grooves are only getting cooler and cooler, nothing to prove any longer. The return of Frusciante adds multiple layers of musicality and band cohesion, drums, bass and vocals are all on top of their game. There are no fillers here. Hopefully the band will stay together like this for another couple of decades! 5 Stars all the way.

Being a Chili Peppers fan for many, many years now I gotta say that this one is definitely a favorite of mine. So happy that Frusciante is back! His guitar work is hands down some of his best yet. The bands tribute ("Eddie") to EVH is F'N AWESOME... I can't say it enough!! This band deserves A LOT of credit. They are STILL one of the great rock bands that continue to crank out GREAT MUSIC 👍🏼👍🏼❗❗

Like other bands before them, including the band themselves, double albums aren't anything new. This year (2022) Red Hot Chili Peppers released two separate albums (which is essentially a double album, especially when each album is 17 tracks--that's a whopping 34 songs released in 2022).It would be very difficult to distill the best tracks of those 34 because, really, there aren't any sore thumbs, but the bulk of the songs are all rather similar sounding. This is a band jamming during COVID-19. They might as well have named the albums COVID-1 and COVID-2. Yeah, Frusciante is back in the fold, as well. But, I think the band could have narrowed 34 down to the best 12 and shelved the rest and no one would have known any different.This time around, I found myself liking "Tippa My Tongue", "Peace and Love", "Reach Out", "Eddie", "Roulette", "Shoot Me a Smile", "The Drummer", "La La La La La La La La" and "In the Snow"--nine of the 17 tracks. The rest? Well, they're fine, too, but perhaps not as memorable.Really, the band has everything--Frusciante, Rubin, jamming, but at this point they need to up the ante. This is the band doing the band. Nothing really new or innovative like in they did in the past. Pleasant is a way to describe "Return of the Dream Canteen". Now, let's take a 4-5 year break, shall we? Next time, I'd like to see the band experiment with their sound more, really stretch out, make something from left field. Why not? They've done everything else. Groovy Sounding Album
After first listen, I'm really digging this album. Quite groovy . Some really fun hooks throughout. Good mix of upbeat and slow tempo tracks...but even the slower tracks "move". This is not just a castoff of tracks from 'Unlimited Love'. I'm finding this album to be equally as good...maybe even a tad better. At 17 tracks, many might think there's some filler here. I couldn't disagree more. This is one solid album. Buy it now. You'll be glad you did.
