A Must Read, An Event That We Must Not Forget!!
This book provides the reader with a concise historical chronical of the Second World War, the single most devastating and traumatic events in human history. The author's well written narrative describes and analyzes the conditions, key leaders, participating nations and events that ignited the war, the major locations or fronts where fighting was conducted, the important battles, the events that ended the war, and the aftermath of the war, which continues to affect our history today.Books such as this are important to read. Because the Second World War ended over 70 years ago, most of the people who participated in the war have passed, and most vestages of the devastation and scars have disapeared. Memories are fading of that catastrophic event that caused the deaths of over 55 million people, some of them combatants, some civilians caught up in the violence, and some murdered by their own governments. It was a war fought on land, sea, and air, touching every inhabited continent, that unleashed the Holocaust and the atomic bomb upon the world. It was also a war that featured acts of courage and self-sacrifice on every side, that serve as example of mankind better nature. The aftermath of the war was a world that could never be the same again. Accordingly, for all the above reasons, it is more important than ever that we remember what happened, so that such devastation should never happen again. I enjoyed this book and recommend it to everyone that is interested in the history of World War Two.

A useful map of WWII
This is a cause-and-effect analysis of major events in WWII. As such it is a brief, high-level narrative that mentions the highlights without delving into them. It is useful as an orientation to that great conflict, a reference map. If looking for detail on an aspect of WWII you might start here to get the general background and then do further research using other materials. This is a book that can be read in a few hours, so don’t expect to learn all there is to know about this complex subject.

A Terrible Time in Our History
I was born toward the end of this terrible war in 1945. What a legacy to have to grow up with. Although I am a proud American and proud of the hard fighting men and women who lost their lives, but won freedom for so many against the prevailing evil, I am heart sick to think this could ever happen again. My father didn’t die in the war, but it ruined his life. He almost lost his leg in battle, but that horrible injury grows pale to what he experienced during the rest of his short life. The gut wrenching agony that he was left to contend with for the rest of his life was unbearable for him. As in all wars, it destroyed him psychologically. I pray to God that we never have to go through such a devastating time again.Thank you Captivating History for keeping this in the forefront of our mines!

Big Task
When libraries are written on personalities, battles and outcomes of WW2, it’s a big task to provide a reasonably comprehensive, extremely short history. This does a nice job of giving the reader an introduction to WW2 in a book readable in under two hours. It will disappoint the enthusiast, but would be a great introduction for the high schooler or person looking to get a basic understanding of the lead up through post war issues. A good introduction.

without becoming boring. One of the few history books I enjoyed ...
I have developed a curiosity of events that have led to our current situation (globally) and the only way is to learn what happened in the past as not to do the same errors. This book was well written and quite analytical, without becoming boring. One of the few history books I enjoyed and was able to actually finish :)
