A nice solution
It seems every pair of shoes I buy now have laces that are too long. These look nice and fit fairly wide laces. I used a crimping tool for wire connectors to install but needle nose pliers would probably work. They are too stiff to install without some kind of tool.

Good on shoes / not on hoodies
Used these to repair a broken shoelace aglet & worked fine. Easy to install with a pair of needlenose pliers and work fine for threading through the lace holes on the shoes.He also tried them on a drawstring on a hoodie but that cord was too thick and these did not work/close up.
