We've Only Just Begun is a sweet Oregon Trail romance
After Susan's parents die, she is tricked by the banker to leave her home. She takes her horse and tries to join a wagon train to Oregon. She is told only married women are allowed, so she makes a deal with Clancey to be temporarily married. Along the trail Clancey treats her like a slave because she refuses to sleep with him. The captain of the wagon train, Mike looks out for her along with his 2 teenage brothers, Eli and Jed. Susan makes friends with several women on the wagon train, but many unfortunate events happen along the way. Indians attack, kidnapping and death befall the group. It is a book full of action that kept me enthralled. This is quite different than my usual genres, but I enjoyed reading this story of brave women and men on the Oregon Trail.

A book you don't want to miss reading!
I loved this story. I was wanting a book to take me away, and this one did to a time where trials and tribulations was a way of life to get to Oregon. It was well written and yes, there were a few typos, but that didn't take away from the story and no matter how much a book is edited, typos happen without being noticed even by the best editor. Look at reviews around Amazon and see how many typos there are in those reviews. I read paperbacks and there are mistakes even in the best of them. I guess if people can't complain in their life, they have to attack an author to complain to make them happy. Guess it makes them feel superior or something. Writing is hard work.Kudo's to that author for a wonderful book! It is very well written and captures your attention from page one to the end. I just found a favorite new author!

Another great book by Kathleen Ball
Well, I have certainly really enjoyed all the books that I have read by this author. I believe I have read most, if not all of the books in this series. Each one was very interesting and entertaining. They were all so good I had a hard time putting them down. I think you will like them too.

Nice!
This was a nice story with some good characters and some mean ones. It’s always fun to read about the Oregon Trail. I think young ladies would have called Mike by his title as captain, or at least Mr. Todd. Also, I think cholera was more contagious than the story says. But the romance was sweet and Mike was a very capable and honorable man, and Susan was a good woman. I need to read the book that tells about Lily!

Perfect
The stories of people making their way west on the Oregon Trail contain a little of all the emotions. Hope, sadness, grief, joy and often a romance comes about in the most unexpected ways. Kathleen Ball has crafted a wonderful tale filled with all of these and made it believable. Combined with the talented voice of Tom Jordan, this is one of my favorites and I am anxious to start the second in the series.Since I have discover audible, I have to admit I am a little addicted. The story comes alive, almost like watching a movie and with the right narrator and story, it is perfect.Follow Susan and Mike as they make this treacherous journey and find much more in the bargain. A keeper

Ok, a little too simplistic, a nice story
This could’ve been a really good book. The author had some knowledge of the facts of a wagon train but it just was too simple of a story. Even the tragic happenings didn’t strike a deep chord. Too much repetition of how much the saw in each other’s eyes they should be together but couldn’t be. If the love had been developed a little more gradually like real love it would’ve made more sense. Maybe a little more character development would help. If it was longer the author could do that. Sweet story just too simple and rushed. Worth the $1 I paid.
