Both armpits tore even though I was gentle with it
This dummy rips on the armpits due to the string.

Satisfactory for solo drills with some hiccups
Good for submission grappling practice as well as sprawl work and top position wrestling, but the shoulders are pretty immovable which may limit submission practice done on the arms. I’m going to see if I can remove some of the filling.

Pass on this dummy!
After being injured and in the beginning stages of starting a family, I realized that I can't make it to the gym as many times as I would like so I was in the market for a grappling dummy to at least do drills when I can't make it to the gym. The gold standard is a dummy that costs $500 to $600 but I wasn't willing to pay that much with no previous experience with a dummy. I mean, "a dummy is a dummy" right? Wrong! What made me purchase this dummy was the price and the cheap shipping. It was a lock! But not all dummies are created equal, and you get what you pay for.Since it's one piece, there really isn't an armpit and the head and neck just don't feel right. The arms don't bend right either. The shoulders are big too. It was very difficult to perform armbars (from in the guard and in mount), and triangles too (since the shoulders are big, you can't even come close to closing your legs). After one failed attempt to workout with this thing, I sold it. Returning it would just be too expensive. With all that being said, the seller was great. I had some shipping requests, and they replied promptly. The price of shipping was inexpensive for the weight of this thing (80 lbs). If you really want a grappling dummy, bite the bullet and spend the extra cash. I bought the gold standard, and it's great; awesome workout!

HALF A DUMMY FOR HALF THE PRICE
Like another reviewer, I was seduced by the price. It's $250 less than the more popular models. But, for half the price you get half a functional dummy. The pros: it seems virtually indestructible and it's actually better than some others for leg locks, ankle locks and guard passes. It can be used for rear naked choke practice, but only in a very limited way since you can't put a GI on it.The cons: except for Americana locks, it is completely useless for anything that involves the arms. So, no armbars, no kimuras, no triangle chokes, no turtle techniques, etc. etc.The question is, why are the makers of dummies such dummies? This question applies to all the dummies on the market. Don't they test them before they put push them on unsuspecting customers???If the Combat Sports Submission Man Dummy's arms were functional this could be a decent buy for the price. The bottom half (the legs) is actually more usable than so-called "gold standard." As it is, fuggedaboutit!

LOVE THIS

This was one of my best buys!
At 80 lbs I thought this was a great training tool, when preforming a kimura you get the stiffness of the dummy's arm that simulates a actually person resisting. Rear naked chokes great, triangles are difficult to pull off though. I use this everyday.

THIS THING SUCKS FOR GRAPPLING
this is a terrible dummy for grappling. the arms and head do not move like you need them to. its extremely difficult to do chokes, and armlocks etc are impossible because the arms don't move in the direction you need them to move. I ripped off one arm on the first day because they aren't mobile. its terrible for grappling.
