Empowering Sequel
"Zog and the Flying Doctors" takes us on another enchanting journey with Zog, Princess Pearl, and Sir Gadabout as they soar through the skies, providing medical assistance to creatures in need. While Zog handles the flying, it's Princess Pearl who truly shines in this subversive tale.Julia Donaldson's delightful rhymes and Axel Scheffler's charming illustrations bring the story to life, captivating young readers and parents alike. From the unicorn with an extra horn, to the sunburnt mermaid each character they encounter on their journey adds depth and richness to the narrative. As the story unfolds, Princess Pearl finds herself grappling with societal expectations and the confines of her princess identity. When her uncle, the King, insists that princesses cannot be doctors, Pearl refuses to accept such limitations. Instead, she bravely asserts her independence and determination to pursue her passion for helping others. This is more than just a charming tale—it's a celebration of courage, compassion, and the power of breaking free from societal norms. Through Princess Pearl's journey, we are reminded of the importance of staying true to oneself and following one's dreams, no matter the obstacles.

A Princess can be a Doctor!
What a great book telling kids they can be more than one thing. In this case, a Princess can also be a Doctor. The story is fun to read, Zog is a cute dragon who is great at flying but not so great at landing. The illustrations are beautiful & vivid with lots of interesting little details for your kiddo to talk about. This became a instant favorite, the first time we read it.I am definitely looking for more Zog books.

with the original Zog being a favorite - this sequel is just as fun
My son loves almost all Julia Donaldson books, with the original Zog being a favorite - this sequel is just as fun, focusing more on the doctors (especially Princess Pearl) this time and a bit less on Zog (he's mainly just their transport now). This book is also empowering for little girls, as Pearl ignores her uncle's pleas for her to remain a princess, continues her medical studies and ends up saving the day!

Cute story with good ethics
We love this author, and this sequel to Zog did not disappoint! I like that the story highlights kind behavior, caring for others, and accepting people for who they are.

A good sequel
The first book is probably one of my top ten favorite books for kids. This one is a fine sequel, but like most sequels, it’s just not as perfect as the original. Still worth buying though.

Julia Donaldson at her best
Zog and the Flying Doctors is as good as its predecessor Zog. My 4 year old adores it (and my 8 year old isn't averse to listening in when I read it either). JD's usual excellent rhythm, rhyme and storytelling are all present.

Perfect!
Yet another Julia Donaldson success. A delightful, entertaining story which is also highly educational both linguistically and thematically. The illustrations by Alex Scheffler are beautifully apt and capture the spirit of Julia Donaldson
