Charles Leonard Mountable Heavy Duty Steel Pencil Sharpener with Multi Size Pencil Holes (8 Sizes), Silver (89508)

Like many others, I have a use for #2 pencils. I own a wood shop that builds guitars. Sharp pencils are a mandate for me for layout, and the mechanical ones just get broken or run out of lead always at the wrong times.I have had little plastic sharpeners, electrics, even used my face sander a number of times. None of them did the job in my rough environment. I finally went looking and found this unit. When it came, I was absolutely, totally pleased at the results. Yes, I know it only has one sharpening wheel, but it is the traditional type of 40 years ago that has many, many blade surfaces on it. And the best part is the wheel is mounted on the pencil shaft holder so that the pencil always stays in line with the sharpening wheels. My first few through were so sharp, so nice, it was like going back to grade school. (Long, long time ago.)It's all steel, with a steel handle. Great unit!For the price, this is the one. Only gripe, dump the little worthless mounting screws and use something at least 3/4" long to mount it. I mounted mine to a wooden leg on one of my benches and could not be happier. You will not be dissapointed.

When this sharpener came by mail today I didn't know what to expect. After reading all the bad reviews I was expecting this thing to just be crap. The box it came in was busted but the sharpener was still intact. The reviews are right as far as the screws go. I used my own. I was able to mount it and put it together. It's really nice. It does have only one cutter in it. It does the job. The point is sharp and refined. I really love it thus far. I hope it lasts forever.

The metal shaving chamber is a little weak, be careful not to squeeze it, too tightly, if you do, you will have to bend it back out.

Waste of money. The AWG of the metal is high, meaning it is made of metal too thin to be useful for anything other than the waste basket. The size selection wheel is poorly riveted and deflects under gentle use. Good luck realigning if you take the shavings catch off. The interior design is as poorly designed and manufactured as the rest, but I will waste no more of my time on this complete waste of money. Zero Stars.

I rated this as a 3 due to the fact that the bezel of the unit isn't soldered and it was in 5 separate pieces and fortunately, I was able to figure out how to put it all back together. The sheet metal just sort of snaps together and once assemble looked good but it definitely would be a better, more rugged unit if soldered together which I will probably do to this one. It sharpened well to a very sharp point.Mounting the sharpener was a little difficult as the mounting holes are awkward to access with a screwdriver when mounting.Mounted it looks good and functions adequately.I don't plan to use it much, just to sharpen pencils in my shop so this should do well enough for my purposes. If for a classroom, I would probably invest in a more expensive, and rugged unit.

This is a pretty good pencil sharpener. It comes with no instructions about how to use it or how to mount it but it is pretty much self explanatory. It comes with three small phillips mounting screws. The mounting screws do a good job if put into solid wood. Don't try to put them through sheetrock because the screws are too short to make contact with wood. I mounted mine inside a closet to the wood molding next to the door. There it is out of the way but easily accessible. Odd place to put a pencil sharpener I know but it works for me.The sharpener works well and the only problem is that the movable circle with different sized holes is kind of flimsy but no big deal once you set it on the size hole you normally use.I think this is worth the money.

You'd think finding a good pencil sharpener in 2011 would be a breeze. Yet I have gone through probably 10 in the last three years and none of them sharpened well. I tried cheap hand sharpeners, battery powered ones, and electric ones. They would break the lead, not sharpen evenly, or just not sharpen at all. So, I decided to go old school with a wall mounted manual pencil sharpener. This item is heavy duty and installs easily. I did switch out the screws with more durable ones. The ones it comes with are more like decorative screws and I'm sure it would have ripped out of the wall in no time. But, once the screws were switched, it installed perfectly and easily sharpens pencils to a perfect point. I'm thrilled. Who would have thought a pencil sharpener would make me so happy, but I'm just happy to have something that finally works well.

En un principio pensé que no servía, pero realmente lo estaba usando mal, lo giraba hacia enfrente y es girarlo hacia mí espero haberme explicado. Pero si sirve, saca una super punta.

Este es el segundo producto que recibo y esta defectuoso. El primero estaba golpeado de la manivela y este no cumple su cometido que es el de sacar punta a un lápiz. Al girar no hace la suficiente presion y aún sosteniéndose el lápiz con presión, no logra hacer la fricción necesaria y ordenada para sacar punta.

Malo, terminé devolviendo el producto.
