With Dropo out of business it’s good to see I now have time to hope it doesn’t die. And time to scout a replacement down the road. Worked fine fortunately the power supply was all that was wrong.

My power supply died unexpectedly. This replacement works perfectly to power my Drobo 5D.

Powersupply failed just over 30 days of use, and past the return window. Beware!

My Drobo went down yesterday. I suspected the power supply (I hoped). I ordered this one from Amazon, which came in 1 day with Prime. Plugged it in and the Drobo booted right up. It is heftier than the original. Hopefully it will last a few years.

The outer diameter of the plug is correct for the Drobo FS but the inner contact area is too big. It makes intermittent contact, causing the Drobo to flicker on and off. Since I needed this power supply quickly I cut the plug off of my broken power supply and spliced it onto this new one. The Drobo supply came with shielded cable, this one does not. Since I have my Drobo far away from my wireless router I'm hoping that won't be an issue. This power supply is rated at 12.5A but the wire is only 18ga. The original Drobo supply was 16ga. 18ga is good for a maximum of 10A at 12v which is OK for the Drobo's 8.3A but it's too small of you were counting on the full 12.5A. The case of this power supply is huge compared to the original but it's not an issue for me. After 2 hours it's at 100°F/37°C so that's reasonable enough. I'm giving it 2 stars since it makes power at sufficient current to run the Drobo but the plug makes it unusable if you aren't able to cut and splice and the unshielded cable may be an issue for some people.

Simply did not work...Attaching the plug to my Drobo showed a flickering green light on the Drobo power button for a few seconds, then off...The brick green light is lit...The old power supply at least powers the 5D for a time being before it disconnects...
