Works great, has some heft to it
Very dense and heavy, clearly a high quality product. Ordered this because my espresso machine came with a very cheap, plastic tamper. This one looks and feels great, and is exactly the right size for the job. Does it actually affect the taste of the espresso? I might not have enough of a refined palate to answer that, but it definitely does a better job tamping it down than the cheap plastic one I have.

Gosh.. quality materials and looks great too. Super heavy, does a great job tamping. It is a bit smaller than my espresso filter, but with some maneuvering, can tamp the grounds well enough.I gave it a good rinse before the first use, tamped out a double shot with my EC-155, and then washed it by hand mildly, with a little soap. I don’t know why some users are so bent on scrubbing this or other tampers, or putting them in the dish washer (never!). Doesn’t need too much cleaning, just like most espresso items, in my opinion.Nice item. So far so good.

It's sturdy and sophisticated, but it's too heavy and you can get hurt if you drop it !

It is a bargain at this price, is balanced and beautiful, and is perfectly designed to do the job.
Even if I didn't need this device for tamping espresso, I would still love it. As many other reviewers have noted, it is good and heavy. It anchors the hand, filling perhaps some primitive need to feel secure and rooted. And it is equally satisfying to look at. And it was pretty cheap. And, of course, it tamps my espresso, but even if it didn't I would still be glad to have it. As Ivo Andric notes in his novel BRIDGE ON THE DRINA, a wooden bridge will serve to get folks across a river, but a magnificent stone bridge with arches and a kapia brings joy to the heart. My plastic tamper works perfectly well, but it is now in the drawer, where it will stay.

Great Quality
This is a solid sturdy metal Tamper. Its heavy enough that you do not even need to press down. The weight itself is about all you need. With a tiny tap the coffee is very packed. I like the classic design that I want to buy one as a paper weight for my desk
