Brilliant highly recommend... set up is easy, once figured out
Best of all world - great for elderly, disabled or instead of landline phone.... excellent sound and nice to have a proper handset for calls, rather than mobile, can happily sit and chat for hours on it.Only criticism - instructions could be clearer.... ie. once phone power cable and handset is inserted, basically you only need to:1. POWER FLICK SWITCH: setting is located at back of handset - open battery panel, move it to one side, then MAKE SURE THE SWITCH IS SET TO OFF (ie. down nearest to you).2. INSERT SIM: as per pictured above – under the battery slide in the sim under silver clip into slot (note, the clipped corner sim corner is at bottom right), then FLICK POWER SWITCH UP TO ON).3. REGISTER THE SIM: top right column of buttons, second button down- directly under contacts (has a faint red symbol above it) - hold this button down for a few seconds and it will say welcome and start to search for networks.4. SET DATE AND TIME: press ok button, use down button until you locate clock menu, 3 and 4 even give options regarding what format you want it in, every thing else is done by okay and menu and cancel buttons.Likewise easy to set up phone book contacts, just use ok and move through menu options.Extremely simple to use, although registering sim step was not clear, as there is no actual red button and once the set is powered on battery/mains, a presumption is, it will automatically find the sim, which it does once you do step 3 above. The display has a clear film over it, which I presume is to make it none reflective, it is not clear whether you are suppose to take this off or use it as is (my preference was to take it off, although screen is now shiny rather than matt). Also would be nice to have a clip in socket for the sim card rather than slide in, as with arthritis etc, it would be easier.Fantastic phone to use, good buy.

7months and it’s dead
I got this for my elderly father who is in a care home so I could phone every day I can’t visit and it worked fine for 7 months. Then the ringer stopped working. I’ve done everything suggested to try and get it working again but it’s basically dead. Not getting any further response from Bangweir so writing this review so you know that you can’t expect it to last longer than a few months

Perfect solution
My grandparents were in a pickle as BT disconnected their phone line by mistake and it took several weeks to fix. Having never used a mobile phone before they were left without a practical alternative until I came across this. This was an ideal solution to give them a working and easy way to make phones calls. It takes a standard sim in the bottom and can run off mains power or battery.I cannot stress how much of a life saver this was during a very worrying time. It may sound dramatic but two elderly people without a phone line was a disaster (if they needed medical assistance or any other assistance for example) and this off set a lot of that worth.Incidentally, the product is very good. Sturdy device with large buttons and an easy to see screen. My grandparents also commented on how loud and clear the receiver sounded.Hope this helps.

A 'mobile' phone that works like a traditional desk phone - just bin the instructions and work it out for yourself
This phone really does work like a traditional desk phone. You can pick up the handset, hear a dialling tone and dial. You can also dial before picking up. Replace the handset to finish the call. The sound is loud and clear and adjustable. I haven't tested the hands-free sound. It is almost exactly what I wanted for my father, who has difficulty with a small mobile phone and no land line easily available. The instructions are written by a Chinese engineer with a poor grasp of English and are almost worthless. Fortunately the menu structure is reasonably clear - just explore all the routes. It is not too difficult to set up a list of contacts. Tip: there are two fields: 'name'=name and 'mobile'=number. To dial a contact could be easier: what you have to do is pick the one you want before lifting the handset, then press the green send button. It would have been nice to have been able to lift the handset to dial the selected contact. The speed-dial feature is useful but you need to know how it works (not in the instructions): press and HOLD a number key and it will show who it is dialling. There is no facility to label the speed-dial keys - you have to remember or stick a label on the phone - there is just enough space to do this at top right or on the back of the handset. The relationship of the instructions at the bottom of the display to the keys is not immediately clear because the left and right keys are a long way from the display and they have fixed labels 'menu' and 'cancel', which is not what they always do: the display describes their function. When the display has an OK option, the key marked OK in the middle of the four arrow keys works. The phone compares incoming numbers with the contacts and shows a name if it matches. There are several buttons on the right which duplicate functions available in the menu. Be careful of the on-off switch lurking in there. The display is bright enough (green backlight) but it is fixed and cannot be tipped to be easier to see for someone lying in bed. There are two keyhole slots on the back and a handset hook for wall mounting. I did not need to move the aerial to get a full strength signal. The battery is useful: the phone can be used away from a mains connection. The charger cable is rather short - I would estimate about 1.2m (phone not with me now).Summary: This is a good 'mobile' phone for people who prefer something that works like a traditional phone but the user interface could be improved, hence four stars. It would suit someone who has help available for setup.
