Q: Should the bottle itself drip? I have something similar and the bottle just pours water into the channel, which in turn pours water into the plant.

That is how it is supposed to work that the channel pours water into the plant. I bought this for my grandson and absolutely loved it, but unfortunately some of the plants were overwatered and mold grew and some of the seeds did not grow. We were both so excited, but it just didn't work for us. Good luck to you!!!!
