Great Well Built Arm!
This is exactly what I needed. The arm is very strong and clamps on tight. I like the multiple joints to get it to go wherever I need it to be. It also has some weight to it so it feels like quality to.

Pretty good for hospital bed, but needs some modifications to make it more reliable
This arm is pretty good compared to many of the other options available on Amazon, I think, particularly if you want to clamp onto something round (like a bar or railing). One of the biggest differentiators of this arm compared to others sold here is the clamp that it includes. This clamp is well suited for both flat and round objects as it has hinged jaw tips that can accommodate flat surfaces and "V" shaped jaws to handle bars/railings. The clamp is the main reason why I chose this product over a lot of other because most other mount arms available on Amazon (of this length) have clamps that are only really meant for flat surfaces, like the edge of a table. My dad recently has a spinal cord injury and is currently unable to use his arms and legs. I bought this arm to mount his smartphone from his hospital bed side rail so that he can operate his phone with head/face gestures (using an app called "Jabberwocky" which is really great if you need something like that; check it out!) The phone needs to be held in a stationary position approximately 15-18 inches horizontally (to get it roughly in front of his face). This task seems straight forward enough, but it's tougher than it sounds, particularly because a lot of options can't handle a horizontal reach of that length without sagging under the weight of the phone. This arm is capable of doing that, and it's reasonably rigid while doing so.The only issue I've had is with the end mount at the base that attaches to the clamp (picture attached). The end mount is a block of aluminum with a 1/4-20 thumb screw and an anti-rotation pin on one end (to connect to the clamp, similar to other camera-type mounting configurations) and a screwed-in joint ball on the other end. The problem is that the torque being applied at the base mount due to the horizontal reach of the arm (which is inevitable with this configuration), when in a counterclockwise direction, has a tendency to unscrew the ball from the bottom metal block at the base. I can retighten it and it will hold for a while, but nurses and techs have often move the arm out of the way without loosening the joints first, which reloosens the screwed-in ball at the base even quicker. The modification I intend to implement to fix this problem it to drill and tap a small hole into the side of the base metal block, through the screwed end of the ball and install a grub screw to prevent the ball from coming unscrewed. Provided this hole doesn't wallow out (since it's aluminum afterall) that should solve the problem in a more permanent way. I haven't tried it yet, though, so that remains to be seen. I think some red loctite could also help this problem and would be easier to implement, but given how much torque can be applied at that joint when people forcibly move the arm out of the way, I don't think it would last.Overall, though, even with this limitation, this arm is a good option for anyone looking for a similar usage, especially considering that other alternatives that I've priced could be as much as $200 (though, I think those more expensive options would not require any modification and would probably work better over a long period of time).

Great for overhead mics
I'm very pleased and impressed with this product. I was looking for a way to mount a mic boom from the ceiling for overhead drum mics in my home studio where floor space is very limited. I looked at many different products - none specifically designed for this purpose and most would have required modification or additional parts to make them work. Then I came across this articulating clamp arm thingy and decided to give it a try. Once I got the ball joints clamped down tight it's staying put just fine. I should be able to put these mics into just about any position with relative ease. I really like how this thing is engineered and the quality I looks great out of the box. I see no reason to think it won't be around for a long time. I'm very happy that it came with a few different adapters for use with cameras, smartphone or microphones.

Great for my GoPro 12
