Dakota AlertSBB-4000 Solar Break Beam Driveway Alarm Sensor - Long Range, Outdoor, Weatherproof, Up to 1 Mile Wireless Range - Compatible with Any Dakota Alert 4000 Series Receivers

My driveway is 450+ feet. Pretty much a straight shot to the RV. Works with the PR-4000. I hope it works inside my house after it is completed being built. Would be a shame if it did not. I'll probably use a different receiver. They should produce a solar repeater for those that may require that extra signal strength.

It works good except in the morning when the sun shines on it. Almost every morning around 7AM the sun shines into the sensor and makes it go off. I unplug the ringer for about a 1/2 hour until the sun is higher in the sky, then it works flawlessly even in hard rain. I'm going to try and make a sun shield to block the sun without blocking the solar charger.

I have been using Dakota hardware for 10 years-multiple systems. Dakota Alerts that work OK but die in a few years and do eat batteries. Still, they are better than these. I thought I'd try these break-beam devices as the Dakota Alerts false from birds, squirrels, and rabbits.This hardware id BIG, possibly due to the fact that they have solar cells on both sides. The mounting hardware is very cheap and I am certain it will corrode in short time. The receiver is a pain to program and you will be plagued with hokey, digital tunes as alerts.Nope, don't buy these is my opinion. There must be better hardware out there.
