It really is quiet.
I've bought air pumps before that were supposed to be quiet. Only to discover you'd have to be deaf to be ok with the noise. This air pump is running 2 filters on high no problems. All I hear is a low humming. I'm getting a new Betta. I wanted to have increased filtration but at slower speed. I'm completly happy with purchase.

Go for this good one!
Best I've found. Great for larger fish such as plecos. Provides good air, so fish don't have to swim to surface to grab a bubble (unless they want to!). Low noise, good power, durable.

Works well
Is still a bit noisy but is worlds better than most other pumps- plus it has the air control built in which also helps cut down on noise

Incredibly Loud and Too Powerful
The media could not be loaded. I'm really disappointed in hygger for this product. I own two other hygger products and did a comparison:- this different air pump (5 Watts)hygger Small Quietest Aquarium Air Pump, Adjustable Oxygen Pump 2 Air Outlets Ultra Silent Powerful Aerator Pump 160GPH 5W (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B087QZ1F52/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=AVCC5D32ELY5X&th=1)- this sponge filter (dual M)hygger Aquarium Double Sponge Filter for Fresh Water and Salt-Water Fish Tank (M) (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RKT6QPV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1)I plugged in this air pump (2W) and was met with huge vibration noises. this pump was to replace a dud for my grandma's 5 gallon tank but this is way too strong and even louder than my 5 Watt air pump at its max output. My grandma would hate this noise, you can't even try to muffle it with towels. You can still hear it across a room. You can see in the video that the 2W air pump slides on the floor when on and compare how loud it is to the different 5W air pump vibrations in the 3rd video. The second video is me putting in the 2W into my M sponge filter and its relatively strong in my 20 gallon long. The third video is demonstrating how much more quiet the 5W is even at its max.

The bloom is off the rose.
Just like you, I read reviews too. Hygger appears to be a top brand according to their reviews. So, when I needed to replace an air pump, I looked at their line. This 3 watt air pump with adjustable speed control seemed to be the perfect choice. It had a 20% off incentive too! However, once it arrived and I put it into operation my enthusiasm ended. It was LOUD. The speed control made no discernable difference in the air flow either. Big disappointment here. This Hygger was replacing a Uniclife that had been running faithfully for nearly 5 years. Only recently did its increasing noise level become annoying. Instead of staying with the Uniclife line, I decided to explore other high-rated brands. It wasn't the devil, but the 20% off that made me chose Hygger over the bunch. Big mistake. If I've ever learned anything in life, it's this--stick with a proven winner. Why did I ever stray from this truth? Anyway, I replaced my mistake with an Uniclife UL40 and all is well again. It is so quiet, and it has true speed control. I've learned my lesson again.Just to be fair with Hygger, I gave their air pump a 2 star rating. Just maybe, I received a defective one, but how am I to know? This review is based on my real experience.

Definitely not "Silent"
I know all diaphragm pumps produce noise, it's an inescapable fact of the fishkeeping life. That being said, I've been pretty happy with a number of Hygger products and figured it was worth giving them the benefit of the doubt here. I appear to have made an incorrect decision. The pump puts out a great amount of air, I love that it is adjustable. It does it's job well, it's just anything but "Silent" as the listing claims. It's probably one of the louder pumps I've used and seems to be far louder for the output of air compared to the tetra whisper series. I will be able to find a use for this product, but it will not be in my office any longer. I am going insane from the buzz.
