Beautiful and Useful
This wooden box sits on my bedside and holds my goodies safe for me. I love the combo lock. Unfortunately the instructions say once the combo is set you can never change it. That is the only problem with this box

It’s well made, beautiful, the lock works, and it fits a normal size journal perfectly. In fact it fits two easily with room to spare. I finally have a safe place to write down my thoughts and it’s beautiful enough to be left out. I’m happy with this purchase.

It's a box
The combination lock only spins sometimes, and with great difficulty. This prevents the ability to set the lock at all.

Beautiful
The wood is beautiful and the box seems sturdy and well-constructed.One flaw: The latch didn't latch and the lock didn't work. I unscrewed the upper part of the latch (the tongue, if you will) and found that with slight repositioning it worked fine. So, I drilled two new holes and re-tightened the latch. Now it works fine.One other thing, the box didn't come with instructions on how to set the combination, so here they are:Default combination is 000 (triple zero).1. Unlock and open box (lid up is best)2. Remove the red "string" from the lock3. Push the square button all the way to the left and hold it there.4. Set the numbers to want for your combination by turning lock wheels to whatever you like WHILE keeping the square button pushed left.5. Push the square button all the way to the right.6. With the lid still open, check the combo by dialing in an incorrect combo then checking to see if the square button still moves to the right. Put the dial back to your new combination. Push the square button to the right. It should move easily to the right.7. You've now set your new combination.
