Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Dry Dog Food Diabetic 1.5 Kg

My diabetic dog loves this food. It arrived quicker than expected from the supplier which was great as I’d nearly ran out of it.

This particular dog kibble is specifically for a diabetic dog. I purchased for this purpose, luckily the dog does like it. As its an expensive dog food I started with the small pack then onto the larger pack.

There are only a few diets specifically for diabetic dogs, as they need to be low carb and high protein, not merely low calorie; some foods are labelled as being 'suitable' for diabetic dogs, but my vet recommends them for use only as a mixer to add a little variety. I found that a mixer is necessary, as although my dog ate complete meals of this food for the first few days - and he does seem to like the taste - he then went off it somewhat, and a mixer became necessary. No doubt there are reasons why just one flavour is manufactured (quantities sold too small, perhaps), but it does make it harder to keep my dog satisfied. It's available in more economical larger sizes - but more reasonably priced from other sites, working out at about 70p a day for my 7kg dog, which is by no means expensive.

My 12 year old poppet of a little terrier was drinking excessive amounts of water.She puddled her bed one night as a consequence and was totally embarrassed.Straight to vet.After urine sample tests showed excessive amounts of sugar, a full check over (as wasn’t presenting any other normal symptoms mainly weight loss) and blood test was sadly diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and is now on insulin injections morning and night which I have to administer 😢All very sad and shocking with sugar levels regularly monitored by our vet.She is being such a good girl with the twice daily insulin injections.The only good news is that her tail is wagging at great speed (faster than before) when I put her little bowl of ‘special food’ on the kitchen floor and this is the biggest highlight of her day 🤗She loves this food and sits there waiting for more and it’s so hard not to refuse her but, I do as I love her so much ❤️ as she has to have the correct amount each day for her size and her weight.The video is when I took her to the vets and told her she would be ok and with the help of the vet, insulin injections twice daily and her ‘special food’ so far so good 😊 for a continued happy girl…

Sent this product to my sister for her dog so never got to see it, I thought I was ordering dog food but she told me it was dog biscuits....I'm puzzled. Her dog liked them.
