I got this for my kids so they would stop playing with my washer and this thing is a lot of fun for the kids and a great addition to a toy kitchen. It operates either with 2 C batteries or it has a wind up mechanism on the back. It makes realistic noises while it spins and has an auto off button which I like so that the noise and spinning will stop after 30 seconds or so. Theres nothing more annoying than toys that wont turn off by themselves ;)I would say get this for your toddler (age 2 - age 5)It is pretty small but therefore wont take up too much space in their room either

We bought this toy washer for our daughter (22 months-old) for Christmas 2010. I knew from looking at other toy washing machines that ALL of the washers out there are SMALL so I expected that from this one as well. In fairness, the dimensions are off as others say but the laundry basket is not a one-cup size as one reviewer stated -- it's about two or even three times larger than that. Yes, this washer is small ... but so are the kids we're buying these for! They have tiny hands and this washer is a good size for our nearly two-year old daughter and even her cousins years older than her. It was a big hit Christmas Day at our house with a load of kids aged 16 months through ten years -- all of whom loved it. Everyone took turns playing with this washing machine and stuffing things into it to listen to the sounds and watch the drum spin around. It fits nicely on the counter top of her new play kitchen and is another appliance with which she can pretend play. Do not pass this up because it's small!! Sometimes I think adults loose sight of the fact that these toys are for tiny hands and tiny people and that the size isn't disappointing to THEM.PLEASE NOTE: Almost every negative review came from a parent who had YET to give this toy to their child. I bet they're singing a different tune now if they did go ahead and give it to their child. I also bet their child would be very sad if they returned it now. This washer is realistic looking and sounding. It's one of those toys that will be the big hit of any birthday or holiday. This washer and a Sensational Beginnings two-in-one vacuum cleaner were the things the kids played with the most. Don't let the size deter you.

This is the cutest thing! When you instal 3 C-batteries, the machine has life-like sounds! When you power it on, the lights illuminate on the front of the washer. There are 4 buttons, Fill, Wash, Eco-Wash, and Spin. With each wash cycle, the lights change! The tub inside spins when in the Wash and Eco Wash modes. It spins faster, just like real life, when in the Spin mode! The machine will not constantly run. It shuts off after a few minutes. A WONDERFUL FEATURE - it does have a safety feature - when the door opens, the tub stops spinning! And THE BEST FEATURE EVER - the machine has a crank on the back that can be used without batteries. Of course, the sounds and lights will not function without the batteries, but the tub can still spin! So cute! Would suggest this for any child!

My daughter loves this! It is ran on batteries but, if the batteries die, you can also hand crank the washer which is great because I don't always replace batteries right away. It also goes through a "wash cycle" and stops on its own so you don't have to worry about the batteries dying fast.

I bought this for my granddaughter this Xmas and it was perfect. Nothing was wrong with it. The Casdon washer performed flawlessly. Sophia was thrilled as she took every sock and mitten out of her drawers to wash them, in small loads and kept her very busy for a long time. The washer even stopped after short cycles, which she liked and would say "Need some more" and have us pretend we would dry them by blowing on them. She played on the floor and was delighted. It can be placed anywhere. The washer is just the right size for a 2-3-4 to year-old. It was small for her to handle and didn't need to be put together. Didn't have to worry about a heavier one falling on her, or need fastening to the wall, so it won't topple on her, like others. I shopped around at stores and on line. This was the best purchase for it's value and endurance. Needs 3 C batteries. Worth every penny and was a reasonable $35 on Amazon. I will recommend this for 5 stars, as well built, great performance, qualifies for small children and apartment size homes.
