Informative Historical Read
I love reading about history and I found this book to be an enlightening read on the Ottoman Empire which expanded my knowledge base of this facet of history. This resource reviews the six hundred year history of this empire from its rise to its final days. It is an informative read which is wonderful for the individual history fanatic.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Okay book for what it is
This book is okay for what it is which is a book with an impossible task: summarize 600 years of the Ottoman Empire in a small book with 90 pages. It does a good job in many respects. But there are several discrepancies and omissions which prevent it from really hitting the mark. For example, the Armenian genocide is not even mentioned in the book. Another example is the role of the Ataturk (Mustafa Kemmel) in the formation of modern Turkey. Though his name is mentioned an briefly discussed, it does not do any justice at all to his true impact. But overall I did enjoy reading it and learned some cool stuff (like the fate of the true Vlad Dracula). If you want a quick "cliff notes" version of the Ottoman Empire then this book is not bad and worth it.
