Black vs Gold
The media could not be loaded. I tested the black vs gold handpans. I got the black handpan, as I like it most, but will be returning it. The black handpan I got had 6 out of 10 notes not turned correctly. (See pic) Most incorrect notes were sharp and 2 notes where incorrect all together. Due to other reviews I worried about the black not be made as well so I order a gold to test it. The gold handpan was perfectly tuned. I think the black would be a good Pan if you can manage to get one in tune. People should keep in mind that these handpans do need to be tested upon arrival for tuning so if this is a gift don't order it too soon. It is also important to know that the black one may be nitrided steel as the notes on mine did not resonate as long as the gold one. The black one I got was a bit shallower then the gold, so this could be a factor. I'm brand new to handpans so I can't tell the difference by looking or feeling the steel. I think this handpan is good over all, especially if your looking for a short resonate time (which is good for drum circle players), but quality control from the manufacturer needs improvement. The shipping was fast from the seller. I am really happy with the gold handpan I got. It is a good pan and is what I wanted being a beginner. The sound on the gold one is nice.

Handpan
This is an instrument for relaxation. No musical knowledge or education needed. You can be creative and compose your own sound or song. With experience you can play songs, for example "stand by me". Which is very interesting because it has a soothing sounds. I really enjoy to play and composed on my own. You can take it with you on a road trip, picnic, park ...play in natural environment.

Good sound 0on the Stainless version. Crosstalk on the higher notes on the Black Nitride version.
The media could not be loaded. Overall, this is a great starter hand pan. I have tried a couple Amazon hand pans from China and these are tuned well and have a really great sound. I ended up returning the Black Nitride Steel version and exchanging it for the Stainless Steel version because I prefer the resonance of stainless vs nitride. A couple of the higher notes (high A and High C) on the Black Nitride Steel Versions had a lot of crosstalk. All notes were in tune. The Stainless version does not have the crosstalk and sounds great.

Out of tune from the start and getting worse.
I bought this after returning another drum. I thought this was a different manufacturer, but it was actually looks like it was made in the same place with the exact same pamphlet and accessories. I should have sent it back too, it is a waste of $300. I could have waited or bought a good used one. Pour quality sound fields. I try to avoid the notes that are out of tune but it limits the enjoyment. Don’t purchase, it is cheap, but still not worse it.

A perfectly fine, inexpensive Handpan drum!
The media could not be loaded. First, it's important to understand what I'm reviewing - which is a $200-ish Handpan drum. To be clear, this is not intended to be a review that compares this to a Handpan drum for $600, $900, or $2,000. This is a $200 Handpan drum. For for someone who is not a professional, this is a perfectly fine - and a fun - instrument!I checked this drum with a tuning app, comparing it with the image on the site which identified the notes, and they were all pretty much accurate, with a small amount of variance. (See the video) If you do your tuning check, be sure to use the mallet, because the results you will get with your hands will not be accurate. You are testing, after all, the accuracy of the instrument, not how well you can hit the notes with your fingers/hands.Check out the video - it's a perfectly fine drum and I'm not at all unhappy that I purchased it. Will I save up for a more expensive one? Yes, this is likely. But for now I'm just grateful that while I'm saving up, I can learn on this very nice and inexpensive Handpan drum! And by the way, for all you amazing craftsman out there who are making these wonderful instruments by hand, one at a time, I don't believe this market is taking away from your business. Maybe I'm wrong, but it would seem to me that the more people who have access to these really cool instruments, the more people will come knocking on your doors, eventually, looking for a super-quality drum. And this entry-level price should lead to more volume, which allows more people to experience the concept, which really just leads to more people, statistically, staying with it. And looking for you, eventually. Just my opinion.

Completely out of tune
It looks nice and came with all it was supposed too.Only the D on top of the pan was true. All other noted were off by 1/2 to 3/4.My son whom I bought it for doesn’t care and plans to keep it.I myself have been a musician for 40 yrs and it’s like nails on a chalk board to me.

New to this but its love at first sound
Watched a few videos of people playing. I’ve got a long way to go. But even a rudimentary interest in percussion and you’ll be hooked too. Love the quality, look and style. Worth every penny.

you get what you pay for
3 notes out of tune, very metallic sound, mass produced. it's worth 200 but that's about it.
