Schritte International: Kursbuch und Arbeitsbuch 1 mit CD zum Arbeitsbuch

Book, complete with CD arrived on time and was in great condition. Lots of pencilled in writing in the books, would prefer clear, to complete exercises. Overall brilliant quality and excellent service. Thanks.

It’s the recommended text for my evening classes so I had to have it. At first I was sceptical about it being 100 % German, & truthfully some homework takes a bit of figuring out, but it’s actually very good. Work through it with the easy-to-download sound clips and you make good progress. It starts with a sensible amount of vocabulary, focussing in present tense structure.

I brought two copies of this. One for myself and one for my daughter.We are learning German together. I opted for used copies as did not want to spend a great deal. They are very good and although my copy is a bit worn it does the job. So very happy.

Used this book for my German classes and it was very easy to follow. It takes you from the very beginning. There are equally as good books out there, but this one was adequate.

This is the first in the Schritte International series of six combined course and work books for German language students who wish to reach European language level B1, equivalent I understand to a good GCSE pass. The series is obviously designed to meet the needs of those being given classroom instruction and not for those wishing to teach themselves German. A single CD accompanies the workbook (Arbeitsbuch) and provides material only for homework. In the classroom, the teacher takes the students through the course book (Kursbuch) and in some of the exercises will play tracks taken from a further 2 CDs. But these additional CDs form part of the teaching material and so only one set is needed in each class. You could as a teach-yourself-student buy the additional 2 CDs but you would also then need the teacher's handbook. The costs mount up. So I would recommend only buying Schritte International books with their somewhat idiosyncratic approach to teaching German if they are specified as part of a German Language adult course for beginners.

Using this book with my German course and it's great. If you're buying it for yourself to learn though it probably wouldn't be that good as everything is in German - no English explanations.
