Sly felt that if he could somehow combine the underdog theme with a sports or army hero, he would have a fighting chance of coming up with a popular movie that people would love. And the rest is history.His Rocky (sports) and Rambo (army) characters are now immortal icons with countless sequels and spinoffs. And Sly Stallone himself now at 72, is today no less iconic than his creations, with world-wide fame and a cool 400 million dollars as a side effect.
