I did the thing you’re not supposed to do…
I pulled these right out of the box and went on a 17mile backpacking trip in the High Uintas. They worked out great, lots of support and my feet didn’t hurt at all. My two buddies that went with me wore their hiking shoes that have been broken in and both got blisters on the way up while I didn’t. The water resistance is nice too, we were caught in a bad hail storm on the way down, the trail turned into a river but my feet stayed nice and dry

Excellent Design, Weight and Features, But...
Overall I have rated this a 4 stars only because the toe box is tight and I experienced some discomfort and toe cramping on the first time out. I may be able to remedy this with a thinner wool, hiking sock.Frankly, for the price, I received a calf height, light weight boot from a quality manufacturer. The Gore-Tex liner has been tried yet (no ankle deep water experienced), but it is Gore-Tex. The sole is semi-rigid with an apparent rock plate. I found good ankle support walking over exposed tree roots.I did 11 miles in them (FL) and they held up well, though not so much the hiker.

Good
Durable and waterproof. They performed well in the mountains and woods. However, these are a shoe, boot hybrid. I noticed the rubber "cushion" part of the shoe already has some cuts from branches on the forest floor. Even though they're still good, because of their design, there might be some durability issues with heavy use.

Somewhat disappointing for Salomon
By the name, I guess that they intend this to be a mid-height approach shoe as much as a hiking boot. It has a Med-Hi tongue gusset for debris exclusion, but the weak lacing pattern makes it difficult to achieve a good ankle lock and heel seat. The overall construction quality is excellent. The trail lugged sole is particularly strong and grippy. There is moderate cushioning, but the insole is worthless and must be replaced with an orthotic to be true hiking boot. With an orthotic, they feel good but have a slightly sloppy heel fit owing to the lace pattern. The decision to use a heel tab instead of a loop makes it difficult to put on without completely relaxing the laces. Salomon discontinuing this model is not a loss as there are superior boots out there at this price point.

Good looking shoe.
They fit me nicely and are good looking. I wear these with my jeans, casual dressing. I do not use these for hiking.

Disappointed
Have owned Solomon boots in he past and loved them. These are the most uncomfortable shoes I have ever owned. Bought them a size larger. They are so narrow and I do not have a wide foot. Trying shoe trees in them to see if they will stretch. If not, to the dump with them.
