Works, no shrimp sucked in yet
It works. I had to turn the suction to the lowest setting which is fine for me but maybe not for you. I replaced the sponge with floss, maybe that helped with the operation. I have had it installed for a couple weeks and no shrimp in the skimmer. I was getting shrimp in my skimmer daily prior to this change. I recommend this item.

Works perfectly with one adjustment
This is nice made and works well. You need the skimmer to be set to the lowest flow setting or the guard gets sucked under water.Once I adjusted that it’s been fool proof and no fish injured. Thanks.

The guard doesn't perform it's skimming function very well, like the original does
The build quality and design of the skimmer guard seem to be great. The output diffuser works great too, and is a must for nano fish so that it doesn't blast them all over the place. However, I am giving this product 3 stars because I am not satisfied with the actual performance and function of the skimmer guard. The filament used to print this custom part seems to be too light in weight. Even with the skimmer set on highest suction/output, this custom skimmer guard does not get sucked down into the motor enough so that it is BARELY sucking any water down. I tried adjusting the height/position of the skimmer motor on the tank wall as well, but nothing I tried seemed to make it perform its skimming function properly. It's just too buoyant because it's not heavy enough like the original guard. The guard also tends to not seat itself properly inside the housing, as it is skewed at an angle instead of being completely vertical like it needs to be. Which could be another contributing factor for it not functioning correctly. Really great idea, just doesn't function well for skimming, which is the whole point.

Didn’t fit well, not shrimp safe
The “hat” doesn’t glide in the skimmer body impaired the water flow.
